Psychoactives, Population control, government and legality
If the (US) government decided which chemicals were legal based on the effects they have on health, this country would have criminalized tobacco and alcohol a long time ago, and legalized pot.
Anybody who has done any research at all on marijuana can tell ya that it is the safest drug on earth - and if smoking plant material is still too unhealthy for swiY, everybody here knows how to extract THC - the only substance on earth that would take about 400x one's body-weight ingested to kill a person (yeah, that much WATER would kill a person). On top of that, THC is related to preventing cancer, curing Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and generally linked to a longer life for many many reasons starting from stress reduction and ending with prevention of diseases we really have no cure for as of yet. And yet it's illegal, because it gets people high without killing/harming them... As far as swim has heard, LSD has only killed ONE person from an overdose -- Mr.Darwin thought it was heroin and shot a whole container of it in his arm and died. Even those deaths related to going insane and "jumping out a window" or w/e while on it, aren't contributed to the reason it is illegal. The reason lsd is illegal is because it causes people to protest and rebel against things more, simply because of what a person learns through it. The government saw this as a potential threat to their power, so they made the chemical illegal. MDMA, when taken in a safe setting and amount, and when not used habitually (which MDMA is not as likely to cause habituation like other substances such as meth, cocaine and heroin), does not cause any major health problems and can probably cause a person to live longer simply by reducing the overall stress of life. It has dozens of medicinal benefits. Just imagine if a soldier in Iraq saw his war buddy get killed and was depressed -- give that man a tab and he'll be over it for the rest of his life. Or even better, imagine if MDMA were given to those severely affected by Hurricane Katrina! Despite everything down there being so bad, at least they would have a positive outlook on life from that point and have motivation to make things better. And yet it's illegal. Not to mention a good portion of the precursors to it, including chems we use every day (ALUMINUM FOIL, ACETONE, etc.) are also either illegal or watched. Personally, swim feels that the reason MDMA is illegal is similar to the reasons that LSD are - in that the drug causes people to really think about the way things are and that just isn't good for the government. (The government would like its citizens a lot more if we were still the easily-led sheep that we were in the 1930s .)Tobacco is legal and psychoactive, but it contains so many chemicals in it other than nicotine (ironically, many of which are actually scheduled in various ways!) that it serves as population control. Not to mention nicotine itself is actually a very potent poison. If one were to extract nicotine and put a pure 100% concentrated drop in another's coffee, person 2 would likely fall over and die of nicotine poisoning. Not to mention that insanely toxic chemicals like Hydrogen cyanide are found in tobacco smoke. Ethanol is, IMO, the 2nd worst drug in terms of health effects (worst being meth of course). It kills your liver, kidneys and converts into acetaldehyde in the body -- which is carcinogenic and toxic. Past that, it causes a heavy dependence (thus why there are alcoholics) and can cause mutations to carry on that dependence through genes. It causes more driving accidents than any other drug, causes people to do/say stupid things under such an intoxicated state of mind, and surely it lowers life-expectancy unless used in extremely moderate amounts (a glass of wine after dinner for instance.) Datura (Atropine) is certainly psychoactive, and not illegal to possess or use. Why? Because it sends a person on a three-day delusional mindfuck trip, then the user risks death or at least vision loss. Completely legal, of course. Swim believes that psychoactive mushrooms NOT containing Psilocybes are legal in this country - but they too are much riskier than are the psilocybes for those seeking psychoactivity. That is population control. Personally swim thinks if the country ever legalized pot, people would start living to be 100+ and we would have problems controlling population and would have to start killing our third babies and allowing abortions up to the 9th month like China does. And anyways, swim thinks that the government must be finding out that BZP maybe is not as unhealthy as they originally thought ------ because they're making it ILLEGAL soon anyways. (hmm, we're not controlling any population with this chem, yet it's making people happy. Let's ban it!) Isn't something wrong with this picture? If swim owned his own country, he would legalize pot, mdma, and all psychedelics deemed safe. He would also allow the manufacture of chemicals, with the exception of meth and a few others without a specific license (which would not be as hard to get as the ones in the USA.) If a person wants to take a 12 hour lsd trip, person A should be allowed to do so assuming he/she isn't going to kill any of swim's other citizens in the process. lol. Swim thinks this country is in need of a change, and that the way to get there is to change as many young (high-school and up) people's minds about the actual effects of these substances so that 30 years from now we will have a bunch of SENSIBLE people as our senators, representatives and presidents, instead of a bunch of people who will drink their hearts out till they die, but will never have smoked a hit of marijuana because "IT'S BAD FOR YOU!". Fucking hypocrites. (oops Swim thinks he wrote too much) |
