SWIMs quest for nutritional enhancement

Hello. SWIM has been trying out various herbs and amino acids for the last month or so. SWIM originally started taking 5-htp to combat mild anxiety and depression and was greatly impressed by the results, subtle yet noticeable. After some further research SWIM added rhodiola and ashwaghanda to the 5-htp and found even further benefits. However after 3 or so weeks of 5-htp SWIM noticed a feeling of muddiness and drowsiness. SWIM was a little disappointed as initial useage had yielded the opposite effects. SWIM also noticed that taking rhodiola every day would lead to SWIM feeling slightly irritable and restless and decided that a cyclic approach to taking supplements was a good idea.

SWIM has now temporarily stopped the 5-htp and rhodiola and ashwaghanda and is now using taurine and alcar along with standard fish oils and vitamin b complex as SWIM waits for the piracetam and picamilon ordered from the US to arrive. SWIM was wondering if there were others who use a cyclic approach to their supplementation as they may find that consistent use dampens the initial effects.

SWIM was also wondering if someone could shed light on the racetams. As SWIM is concerned that piracetam may not be as strong as another acetam and maybe would be less effective for someone who has attention difficulties.

SWIM is also interested in vinpocetine, idebenone and alpha GPC and is having a little trouble locating sources for these in the UK. SWIM was wondering if it was acceptable to enter into email correspondence with a user of this site to talk about their favourite US shops.

SWIM has also noted that the combination of ALCAR and taurine is good for energy and focus but doesnt appear to have a particularly mood lifting effect. SWIM was wondering if there was another mood lifter that would compliment the alcar and taurine. SWIM has looked at bacopa and ordered some and is also interested in gingko biloba.

SWIM is a grateful person and would be delighted with helpful response.
