Well SWIM hates to say it, but he is starting to use
oxycontin too much and if he continues his usage at this rate he is going to have a serious problem. So first off a bit of background, SWIM first tried OC’s February of this year, he just did 10mg and loved it, it started as something he did twice a mouth (from Feb to May), then by June it was every weekend. Now SWIM has done in the range of 10-40mg of OC everyday for the past three weeks (minus 5 days or so). SWIM has been alarmed by this usage, and made a decision to stop before things get really ugly. Now SWIM realizes that he has not been abusing for years here and was not up to an 80mg a day habit, but he is still very worried about physical withdrawals that may happen.
SWIM took his last OC on Monday of this week (small dose maybe 15mg), which means he has not done them for two days now.
SWIM has heard that the WD’s sometimes do not kick in until the 3rd day, so far SWIM has been ok, he feels very anxious, tense and somewhat unreal during the days, but he has always had anxiety and he has ativan to take for that, the ativan also helps to sleep, even in small doses of 1mg. But just in case the ativan is not enough and since SWIM does not like to abuse it, SWIM also was able to obtain 3 8mg
suboxone pills. He might not even need them but he was wondering what would be the best way to use them? SWIM has read you should not take it until you actually feel WD symptoms, but how much should he take? A friend said that 2mg should “take the edge off”, like stated so far SWIM is ok, except for the bad anxiety that ativan does not even really help with, SWIM also has to work so he is worrying himself that he may get sick and it is not helping. He has also read of all these horrid WD symptoms like chills/sweating, goose flesh, puking and feeling like you have the worst flu of your life. Was SWIM simply not abusing them long enough to get really bad WD’s? If so will the amount of Suboxone he has help to ward them off enough so he can function and get though work? SWIM just has to get though two more days of work, then it’s the weekend, so he will have two days to do nothing and suffer if he has to, but he feels that if he gets though the weekend ok, then the worst of any WD symptoms should be over right?
EDIT: Swim also has plenty of Clonidine that he is prescribed to, he has read that these can help with opiod WD’s as well, but is not sure how he should be using them. Right now he takes them once and a while to help him sleep and they don’t even work that great.
