Attaining sleep when the drugs won't let SWIY

There are various threads in the forums about getting to sleep after particular substances. Please feel free to share such info here. But SWIM is really interested in sleep-aids and the safety of them, after a variety of drugs (though not necessarily in combos). For example: mushrooms, LSD, piperazines, coke, amph, etc.

So SWIM has successfully taken gravol (dimenhydrinate) to sleep after piperazines. SWIM is wondering if diphenhydramine and dimenhydrinate are safe to use after drug use (knowing of course that alcohol is a no on).

Most of the other threads suggest benzos. Why is this? Are they are more effective, or less dangerous? They're certainly not easy to come by.
