First Time Great. All the Others Not So Hot!
OK I have a fiend called SWIM (who seems to be a popular guy, as he is mentioned an awful lot on this forum). In any case 'SWIM' managed after some time and some effort to obtain a reasonably substantial supply (for personal use) of what what was claimed at the time of the transaction to XTC/pills.
However SWIM has been very disappointed with his purchase. His first encounter with XTC was some two month prior to his subsequent purchasing decision, which of itself was inspired by certain logistical and technical difficulties in obtaining a regular supply in his home location. His first experience with XTC was truly profound and stunning and for the two or thee hours it lasted it gave him a new a beautiful pair of glasses with which to view the world. But since then, after SWIM made his most recent purchase, he has been extremely let down by the whole experience. There has been no sense of pure love and of a perfect oneness with the world and with everything and everyone in it, no great sense of joy and and boundless pleasure from the senses of touch, smell and taste that he encountered during his first experience. SWIM remembers his first experience very well, when even breathing felt like the most joyous experience he had ever encountered, almost as though with each breath he was breathing in the very essence and peace of the Universe itself. At one point SWIM even remembers that the pungent smell of even his own excrement, smelled like the most wonderful scent he had ever had the pleasure to encounter.
Worse than this SWIM bought his supply with the intention of perhaps trying it with some friends who have also not tried it before. MDMA was after all originally called 'the dinner party drug'. (Although the actual event SWIM had in mind was probably more akin to the Mad Hatter's tea party, than any kind of traditional dinner party). However out of a sense of responsibility SWIM felt a need to test his new supply out on himself first before taking the risk of giving it to any of his most cherished friends. SWIM could not live with it on his conscience if any harm came to them as a result of his actions. However upon the initial test SWIM encountered some really quite unexpected side effects, which were not evident throughout his initial experience and which were not perhaps altogether pleasant. This included a somewhat panicky sensation while on the up, similar to the kind of fear one might experience when riding slowly to the first steep curve of a very large roller coaster, although somewhat enhanced and also somewhat other worldly than this. SWIM was not overly perturbed by this panicky sensation. SWIM has after all had several bad experiences (and some good ones) on LSD as a teenager (something has not done now for a very long time) although this was probably many moons ago now - so SWIM reasoned that as he had ridden out these - and that they were far more horrific and disconcerting than he was experiencing with his experiment with XTC at that time, that he should be able to ride this out quite easily too. Thankfully, the initial panicking sensation wore off after maybe 20 to 25 minutes - pretty much when SWIMS experience topped out. However there were other physical side effects, which were also quite unpleasant and which persisted for a considerably longer period. For example SWIMS teeth began to chatter uncontrollably, almost as though he were freezing cold, even though he was anything but freezing cold and even though in fact he was literally boiling hot! SWIM in fact found it very difficult to control his core body temperature (even when he was not moving) and indeed if it had not been for the large office fan he had in his possession, he thinks his experience could have been a whole lot less comfortable (and a whole lot more damp). Stepping out of the shadow of the fan was a bit like stepping out from a cool and pleasant English morning, into the raging furnace of the mid day sun in the heart of the Sahara. SWIM did drink plenty of fluids, although not excessively so.
As well as being uncomfortable with these physical symptoms, SWIM is simply on the whole very disappointed that he has been unable to replicate, or even come anywhere near his first experience. Subsequent experiments spread out over a number of weeks, with varying doses (including redosing within reasonable intervals) have provided similar results. SWIM wonders if he may now simply be falling into the classic drug takers trap, where he spends large amounts of his time (and expends a significant degree of his health) chasing that first perfect high. SWIM does not want to fall into that trap and therefore he has concluded that he does not think it wise to take any more of his supply of XTC for much, if not all of the foreseeable future. SWIM is however still disappointed, not least because it seems he has wasted quite a useful (although relatively small) sum of money on something that is of no practical use for him. He is disappointed also because when he first tried XTC, he thought that after 20 years of quite intermittent and occasional drug use (just the odd dabble here and there) he had finally found 'his drug.' SWIM had no intention of taking XTC every week, or indeed every month, but he would at least like to know if it is possible that he might at some point in the future be able to replicate, or even come close to the extremely pleasant experience he enjoyed during his first experience?
With his most recent batch of pills, SWIM has found that after the initial somewhat panicky period has elapsed there is still a genuine pleasure in movement and dance, but that this was almost all externalised and exclusively physical in nature. There is in other words no inner sense of peace and love and perfect commune with the world and the universe at large. (Or in put another way, no 'loved up' feeling). Given this SWIM has concluded that the downsides to taking any more of his supply far outweigh the upsides, the chattering teeth, the uncontrollable heat and sweating and the panicking sensation etc. SWIM also wonders if perhaps he may have simply bought some 'bad pills' and wonders also if obtaining a more pure supply might help put him back on the right track again at a later date, if and when this becomes possible? SWIM also wonders if anyone can recommend a very good MDMA testing kit, which can accurately measure the purity of specific samples of XTC (and possibly give an indication of the correct dosage going by the weight of the sample) and which can also test for the widest range of common contaminates? SWIM asks this
as he feels that possibly a part (although probably not all) of his initial panicking stage it is induced by a concern regarding what exactly it might be that he is putting into his body. SWIM does not trust unscruplous black market dealers with zero levels of quality control to always have his best interests in mind. SWIM also wishes to know what is the most pure form of XTC that can generally be bought - and whether powder or crystals are almost always purer than than pills - and which of these, if any is likely to prove the most pure?
