Musical creativity in relationship to various substances
Theoretically, SWIM happens to perceive that LSD is very useful for the task of focused music production. The subtlety, length, and controllability of the LSD-25 profile seems very useful for the kind of mind states that have inspired many a Beatle per say. To name a few specifics, attenuated audio bandwidth perception, increased emotional response, increase ability to construct long focus of ideas, and imagery attenuation (sic).
Considering these and other factors, including duration, SWIM feels hard pressed to find any other substance that perform the "wonder drug" persona of LSD in regards to music production. Perhaps the successful integration of LSD into the all time legendary status of the Beatles creative process illustrates this somewhat. Also the surge of quality pop music that seemed to traverse from around the time of Sgt. Pepper’s music revolution in the 60s may be of some relevance.
What other substances are the music makers utilizing to assist in the creation of the next wave of revolutionary psychedelic sounds? Obviously MDMA (and it’s effects) have had a pronounced repercussion on the RAVE scene (read: where is the good cid)?
Cheers,
Nite
