Drugline goes live in city school (UK)

Now is 1984.......

This from the BBC News website:

Drugline goes live in city school

A phone line for pupils to pass information to police relating to drugs has been set up in a school.
"Drugline" is an idea which has developed from the highly successful "Text the Bully" initiative at the Gordano School near Bristol.
A dedicated telephone line enables students to report anyone they suspect of dealing or using drugs anonymously and confidentially.
Police stressed there is no suggestion the school has a major drugs problem.
'Positive idea'
The phone line will be advertised within the school and will be monitored by police at Portishead police station.
"We want to reassure students and offer them the opportunity of expressing any concerns they may have," said PCSO Debbie Charman who is behind the new phone line idea. "It is a case of prevention, rather than cure." Gordano school head teacher Graham Silverthorne said: "I think this is such a positive idea and another positive example of support services for children in Portishead working together."
