Combinations - Effexor + Propylhexedrine (SSRI+Speed)

SWIM has been on 37.5mg/day of Effexor SR (serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) the past few days for depression, and all day today he was experiencing that hypomanic, serotonin-wired sensation. Mildly euphoric, but somehow also unpleasant. Anyone just starting an SSRI antidepressant or going up in dosage is probably familiar with it.

Anyway, he also noticed an old standby on sale at the drugstore, propylhexedrine, so he decided to check out the combo. He took a low dose of propylhexedrine, less than 75mg (1/3 inhaler). Believe me, SWIM was not thinking this was gonna be promising. Probably an agitated, panicky high, right?

Wrong.... at first he noticed his sex drive was back, which the antidepressant had been killing the past few days. Pupils dilated (already were from the antidepressant). Then he stepped into a hot shower and went out of his mind... it turns out the combo is wildly entactogenic. Chills and goose pimples and incredible bliss broke out on every inch of his body including face/scalp, it even felt like it was happening inside his body. It was like... umm, there's no word in SWIM's mind that can describe the experience.

SWIM is out of the shower now and noticing just mild, slightly speedy euphoria again... a more positive, energized version of what he's been feeling all day from the Effexor. But it seems the serotonin component makes the propyl high come alive. No tactile sensation like that shower ever occured before. If anything else unusual happens, SWIM will record it. He does feel like sleeping tonight, so he probably won't be dosing any more propyl or pushing things any further.

P.S. anyone reading this tried combining SSRI antidepressants with amphetamines or methylphenidate? That would be somewhat similar... if so, speak up about anything interesting...
