SWIM has never liked where he lives. It's a small city that doesn't have a lot going for it. There's nothing interesting or diverse in this community, it's very much just a "hockey and drinking" kind of town, if you understand what SWIM means. The economy is also very poor, and the city has a history of making very bad decisions on how to spend the tax-payer's money. The one place that somebody could actually make a good living working for recently closed down, but that doesn't really affect SWIM, as you basically had to be related to somebody who worked there in order to get a job. SWIM's hometown is a very depressing place to live, with no opportunity for advancement in work and very little opportunity for education. SWIM has never felt "at home" in his town, and finds that he feels much happier when he's visiting other larger and more diverse cities. SWIM's question is, has SWIY ever noticed that moving to a different city/country has had a noticeable effect on your overall mood and quality of life? SWIM doesn't mean if you moved from a minimum wage job in one city to a $150000 a year job somewhere else and your quality of life is better. SWIM means even if SWIY moved to a different city and was making basically the same amount of money and living the same way they did before, did they still feel better because of the geographic change? Were the effects permanent, or just temporary?
