zubsolv???

ive been on suboxone for about 4 months, i get 60 strips a month. i take one in the morning and one at night. recently my health insurance sent me a letter saying they wont cover my sub script anymore (which is $450 dollars, im a college student i cant pay that shit)..and they suggested me getting on zubsolv. ive tried researching it, apparently its sposed to be just as good if not better but i cant help but think its just going to be a generic form of suboxone and ill need more of it to feel normal. has anyone here been in my position? how did the switch from suboxone to zubsolv go? any info would be appreciated.

Re: zubsolv???

Don't predispose yourself into thinking it's going to be weak. The FDA rules stat generics are supposed to work the same. You could very well be backsliding for no good reason here.

Go with what you're supposed to and keep steady for a while, maybe it will be reduced and you'll get through it and the next step won't be as bad.

Re: zubsolv???

From the way I understand it subsolvs absorption is better than suboxone. They claim 5.7 Mgs subsolv is equal to 8 Mgs suboxone. Basically your body waste more suboxone than subsolv requiring less bup. I have never tried em but there's varying experiences with em all over the net. I'm pretty sure they cost the same if not more than suboxone though. Btw I also got a letter from public Medicare stating they would not cover it. A quick call from my doc telling them I needed it was all it took for them to change there mind. Maybe the prices have dropped but I know when subsolv and whatever the other ones called are more. I don't know why.

Re: zubsolv???

yea so i just saw my doc. my insurance said zubsolv would be cheaper. i pay for my script up front then my insurance sends me a check in the mail a few weeks later refunding me the cash. the zubsolv costs just as much as my sub (as a matter of fact it costs exactly the same.) i was pissed. they make me switch because its "cost effective" but it costs just as much as sub strips. my doc said he would rather have me on sub strips too but there wasnt much we could do about it. im just pissed because its still just as expensive and id rather be on strips and if im still paying the same price id rather just be on subs. buncha bull shit. im calling my insurance tomorrow and am gonna figure this shit out. ill see how the zubsolv works i mean im sure it will be fine but i am not happy about how they say its cheaper and thats why i switch when it wasnt cheaper for me whatsoever.

Re: zubsolv???

I switched to zubsolv a month ago and I do not have insurance. I go to walmart pharmacys by far the cheapest, I printed the discount card off line 75% off on 6 full fills. With that card I pay $8.68 for three tablets which is great compared to two sub strips at $19.00 with $50 discount card so it's huge savings. Now for differences, side affects are the same as Suboxone mild to severe constipation, face flushing ect...the taste is great I personally love it and the fast desolve is a bonus. Now the strength difference, I was taking up to 2 strips a day through out entire day, with zubsolv I have to take 4 tablets 5.7mg tablets to equal the same effect as 2 strips. With price being lower and better taste I fully switched my doctor just doubled my bi weekly amount to compensate the amount use differences. Take your script to wal mart with discount card off the website and let me know if it's the same for you ? I live in Baltimore md

Re: zubsolv???

Have you tried to apply for Medicaid? I have Medicaid, Medicare, and a Part D plan, and the co-pay for 30 8mg strips of Suboxone for me is only $6.35US a month. My doctor appointments don't cost me anything.

Re: zubsolv???

WOW! I must live in a cave lol. There's alternative to suboxone? I only thought there was methadone, subutex and suboxone. I don't have insurance either and I guess living in a junkie city of Baltimore pays off for another junkie since I get my 8mg subs for $5 bucks all day. I never stay on it for no more than 5 days max and no more than 24mg tho..no matter how long I've been binging on H or roxies. I learned my lesson from 4yrs of methadone chain.

GL everyone!

Re: zubsolv???

My insurance wouldn't cover my Sub to start with and at that time there was no generic and it was costing me about $500 per month. I finally got a decent person on the phone at my insurance co. who told me about a reconsideration board. I had to write a letter telling why I needed it and my dr also had to write one. The letters had to come from the dr. Long story but they agreed to cover it and back-paid me $2500. Sometimes I wish I had just quit the sub instead of fighting to stay on it. But you cannot know these things at the time.

Re: zubsolv???

Zubsolv isn't bad with cost if you use the discount card, it takes a week to get use to but I been on them for a month now and I still like them.

Re: zubsolv???

Zubsolv is actually slightly weaker IMO.. I've been taking both zubsolv 5.7mg/1.4mg and suboxone 8mg/2mg strips for the past 4 months + another 3 years of just taking 8mg Suboxone strips before that. I can honestly say that the hype about Zubsolv is only half true. Yes it is easier to take and yes it does in fact taste better, however as far as strength and half-life go, the 8mg Suboxone strip takes the crown. Even though the strips take much longer to dissolve and taste pretty horrible, they seem to last longer and also provide a more noticeable "buzz" than the Zubsolv.
