How concerned should one be about the Tylenol in Percocet?

How concerned should one be about the Tylenol in Percocet?

If the Percocet has 325mg of acetaminophen in it, what is the most frequently a person should take it in order to avoid liver damage or issues? Should they limit themselves to 1 pill (vs. a max of 2)?

No, the MAXIUM dose per day is 3000mg of APAP. Over time though I can not imagine that being healthy, taking a large ammount of APAP (even like 1000-2000 grams semi regularly) is bad for your liver over time, thats my opinion though.

So, 6 tablets if my math is correct. Thats either 3, 30 or 60mg of Oxy a day. Should be good at 6 tablets a day max, but over time you may be causeing your self some damage.

Im pretty sure that the MAX dose is 4000mg/day for acetaminophen, not 3000mg

And that is the max dose spaced over an entire day, not all at once.
I know some people see 3000mg and think that so long as they only take the 3000mg and then leave it for another 24 hours that this is ok. Its not.

It was recently changed to 3000mg a day instead of 4000mg a day

Re: How concerned should one be about the Tylenol in Percocet?

3000mg acetaminophen / 325 mg in percocet = approximately 9-10 percocets. so it depends how many you are doing but it is definitely not good for your liver and if you have picked up a habit (daily) i would suggest switching to a low dose of oxy. too much acetaminophen causes liver damage and certain things intensify this process such as alcohol. Putting too much strain on your liver is not a good idea because your liver processes all the toxins in your body. You don't want to strain your liver if you use other drugs often as well.

if you are only doing them once in a while there is nothing to worry about.

Thank you, and to everyone else who responded. My siamese cat is definitely not taking them daily (no real regular source; plus, sadly, percocet doesn't seem to do a hell of a lot for me, which will be the subject of my next thread, LOL). When she does take a perc, which are few and far between, it is one or two 5/325mg pills.

Thank you to everyone who responded on here!

It's not doing a hell of a lot because you're only doing 1-2. The first time I ever used oxy, I tried one pill (5mg) it did absolutely nothing. Two gave me a nice buzz. Three was great. 5 had my vomitting. So I'd say 3-5 is good. Don't worry, even though you may start to feel nausea and vommit, the general good feelings outweigh the bad. Of course its not something to do everyday unless you wanna get addicted.

srs328 added 11 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

Correction: 2 had me ready to fall a sleep. Hardly a buzz. The three made me tired as well, but very euphoric. Personally the 5 just made me itch a whole lot more than the three AND it made be nauseous. Didnt add much to euphoria and I always sleep 3 hours after taking oxy so I don't know much about duration. That's why three is my dose of choice. Since I only use it once a week, no increase in tolerance has changed this dose.

Re: How concerned should one be about the Tylenol in Percocet?

My butler Jeeves wants to share his APAP experiences here. He has been taking 4 Perc 10's along with 2 Oxy 80's daily for about 4 years for pain. His doctor administers semi annual blood tests for liver function. They have all been normal in function. Jeeves is not advising less caution in taking these Percs but, at least for him, there have been no adverse effects. Jeeves still maintains
" CAUTION IS SAFETY'S DOORWAY"

Re: How concerned should one be about the Tylenol in Percocet?

Very, it will mess up your liver if you take too much.

I recently did a CWE of my prescription, two 5/325's and put the rest of it in a gatorade cup. I drank half of it, got moderately euphoric, really really happy, laughed alot, had a hard time walking straight it was awesome. However I slept for 14 hours and woke up feeling like absolute trash.

Atleast if you continue to do oxy just do a cwe so you don't kill your liver.
