Re: Various Side-effects and Physical Problems from Cocaine & Crack Use ( thread arch

Well actually, your ADD gives you a slight disadvantage because it affects your levels of dopamine as well as serotonin which cocaine also does. It is not unheard of that people with ADD experience different things on stimulants. After all, ADD medication is a stimulant and it calms down people with ADD thus giving the opposite effect of someone who does not have ADD. Similarly, people with personality disorders will sometimes have different experiences on certain drugs if they already have a chemical inbalance with certain neurotransmitters in their brain.

So here is a rundown. To give you some history, I have done coke on 4 seperate ocassions, each time it was different stuff from a different person. The first time was over 3 years ago, the last 3 times have all been within the last 3 weeks (it's got me by the balls right now). Every time ive done it I have had the same affects. Here is a list:

The biggest one is an overwhelming since of well being. This is the one that keep me coming back for more.

Then there is the complete numb feeling all over my body. My teeth, my legs, face, everything just feels good and tingly. (it has always taken me at least 6+ good fat lines to feel this way though)

The one that gets me is my over all reaction to coke. My friends will be feeling great and what to talk and have a great time but I just feel like sitting there and enjoying the feeling. I never really feel like moving, usually because it is uncomfortable to do so. I usualy end up feeling cold all over and getting purple spots all over my body like you would when you are cold. I dont know if this is from me sitting in one place and not moving, or if it is a direct effect.

Another big one is my sex drive. My friends usually talk about being horny as can be (both male and female) but I feel the exact opposite. In fact my testicals shrivle up, and my penis shrinks and acts as if it is trying to run and hide inside me. You couldput me in a room with 100 fine, naked, and willing women and I can GUARANTEE I couldnt get an erection. (Yes I am straight )

So break it down to me.... do I react differently to coke, have I always had some bunk shit, or am I just expecting too much?

Thanks
Sorry, I didn't specify but my previous post that was put up merely minutes ago was in response to this...

SWIM pretty much always gets the cold feet and hands when doing coke.

And typically swim doesn't do much more than 0.5 gram in one session.

8ball in 4-5 hours??? Wow, that must have been intense!!

I DO!! And especially when I'm in a club and really wanna dance, but can't because my feet feel so weird, like cold and sore/tingly ...it just sucks when it happens and I figure maybe this happens just when it's cut with something bad?

Re: Various Side-effects and Physical Problems from Cocaine & Crack Use ( thread arch

Swim usually gets sore muscles after a night's binge on crack. The next day or two his hamstring muscles are aching for some reason. His neck is also aching (swollen lymph glands?). Another symptom that he sometimes has is his hand muscles will cramp or tighten up (trousseau sign?, does cocaine cause hypocalcemia?). Just wondering if anybody else gets these symptons or if it's just him.

Re: Various Side-effects and Physical Problems from Cocaine & Crack Use ( thread arch

Hello, I was looking for a place to offer up some info/advice I composed for anyone who uses or has friends who use amphets. There are some real issues people aren’t generally aware of and I hope these experiences can serve as positive, useful advice in the future.

I’ve done a lot of research on a consenting, human-animal model; the most reliable indicator of the effects of any substance on the human body. I’ve named the model after my favourite supermodel…Karen Mulder. The research was conducted over 15 years, using various quantities and has been, to say the least, extensive. Karen ingested varying quantities of amphet-type drugs; cocaine, ecstasy, speed (street speed, some hard, some powder – unknown sources) including a lot of the contentious ‘legal high’ compounds that did the rounds, namely B2, NRG1 and Meow.

…If you can't be a good example, at least be a terrible warning…

So you’re concerned that the “coke” or whatever amphet-derivative they actually ingested “might be cut with something bad” … it’s certain it was cut with something. It always is, this stuff is usually illegal, in my humble opinion, making it more dangerous, so isn’t regulated in any way (not that everything regulated is safe! (Uhum, legal drugs)) …so there’s no-one checking its quality. Quality is not the first concern of a dealer, not to imply dealers are bad people per se who don’t care if you live or die. But the first concern of any ‘business’ is profit.

So, in order to make the ‘good stuff’, the pure and, arguably, less-harmful substance go further it’s cut with some other substance, which only needs to look similar to be useable.

I've heard it can be cut with things like rat poison, ground glass and cement mixer. I’d say these are used rarely if at all based on the odds that Karen, having ingested vast quantities of amphets from various sources, will likely have ingested a fair amount of some or all, and is still alive and relatively well.

I can tell you for certain that talcum powder, lower grade amphets and various Barbiturates or Ketamine, a horse tranquiliser, are widely used. These are no more or less harmful than the stuff they're willingly using.

A lot of the issues your friends are facing are just the body doing it’s job…

…Nose bleeds are a reaction of the sensitive skin in the nasal passage reacting to the irritation caused by insufflation (snorting) of the chemical compound. Not everyone has them, but a weak nasal cavity, ill-equipped to deal with the level of insufflation, becomes raw and bleeds. But it’s unlikely to be a major concern. Coke requires frequent top ups. Speed, E, meow and it’s family, all last longer. So if it was real cocaine, they’ll probably have been re-dosing about every 20 minutes as it wears off so quickly. Karen’s never had a nosebleed from coke or anything else. She had one off going on a Ferris wheel once, but never off snorting anything. And I’ve seen other people get nosebleeds every time they snort anything. I would say it’s just different noses with different reactions. Nosebleeds are probably the worst reaction the nose itself will have too, unless you go Daniella Westbrook-style OTT and manage to erode your nasal cavity completely. I actually have no idea how she achieved that, perhaps a weak nasal passage.

After 15 years of social use of various amphets, and a recent 6 month stint as a chronic user, Karen has a drippy nose. Like a permanent cold with only that one symptom. So it’s obvious her nasal cavity has been damaged, but unless you're going to use chronically for a long time I don’t think you should worry about this. I have friends who are doctors, some have done amphets themselves, got nosebleeds and not batted an eyelid. It doesn’t seem to cause any problems beyond being irritating and maybe embarrassing.

Dangers: A sore nasal cavity, sensitive to air, a drippy nose, nothing major.

“Hearts racing”: Yes amphets speed up your heart rate, inevitably. Karen, who has a heart mummer and asthma, both mild, and has been a social smoker for 15 years, had only one experience you should know about. Beginning the evening with the usual gram or two of cocaine, ecstasy ushered in the night. Midnight to 6am saw two tablets and a side of fags and booze all going down like water.

A few hours into the night she felt uneasy on her feet, light headed and weak all over with a sudden, increasing difficulty breathing. She could, of course, breathe, just not easily. Breathing had to be focused on and was an effort. She’s had around five asthma attacks in her life. These symptoms here were just like one, except for the fainting. With asthma attacks she always has to sit immediately before the fog encompasses her body. She would lose her sight to fog and become unable to stand and if she didn’t sit down immediately, would fall to the floor; the two occasions she didn’t sit down straight away she dropped to the floor. The first time hitting her head on a pipe, the second on a kitchen side; the council estate kind with the sharp, metal sides and cutting her forhead, freaking out and calling an ambulance, and having it glued together in A&E. No amphets had been ingested for months, to a whole year. She was stoned and trying to make an omelette.

This night I think it was probably another asthma attack. But the amphets seemed to stop Karen from clouding up and falling over. She sat down before it got worse. It was very scary, but no ambulance was called so still manageable. She coped with it like this:

After about 5 Es, loads of booze, quite a few fags, Karen found herself unable to breath normally. Terrified, she told her boyfriend, who was very sympathetic and calm. He sat her down, sat next to her with a loving hand on shoulder and said over and over in a calm, soothing voice; “you control the breathing the breathing doesn’t control you…” over and over, it really calmed her down like a mantra. And another tip that works for us is having an internal voice with which you can say to yourself, in any situation not just amphet OD, “don’t worry, it’ll be okay Karen, sssshh, you're fine, you’ve lived through worse, it’s all okay” etc. etc. …

… it this sounds like the ramblings of a mad person, it is, but it bloody works! I swear I’ve calmed myself down for interviews, exams, telling offs, and most importantly when you think you're gonna die. This internal mantra from the more sensible, in control ‘you’, really helps.

Dangers: If you can't control it, or it happens frequently then I’d suggest it’s a serious issue, if someone like Karen with a heart condition (of sorts and apparently, according to an A&E doc), asthma, a history of use/abuse including the second most harmful drug there is, tobacco, can handle it, and you can't…you should probably cut down or stop amphets.

If one found themselves completely unable to breath, something else entirely, an ambulance would be called. No-one would tolerate such a state for longer than however long one can go without breathing, 3 minutes I’ve heard. Sometimes when you think you “can't breathe” you’re actually just finding it hard to breath, this can be remedied effectively by a friend or other half, a trusted person who above all, DOES NOT PANIC! (Read some Douglas Adams…just in general, he’s ace!)

"...so lethargic that they just pass out…”: When ‘you’ do amphets you tend to not go to bed at the usual 9pm right? You’re up for like 48 hours or longer? You're dancing hard, you're talking hard, your brain is stimulated to f*cuk…? Of course you're gonna be tired out afterwards. This is a natural reaction, your trusty body is shutting you down so it can repair you! Just do as it says and you’ll be fine after a good day or so’s sleep. You need recovery…the tiredness is not a bad sign, neither is sleeping for up to 24 hours afterwards.

Karen has gone 107 hours without sleep on amphets. That isn’t an embellishment and I’m interested to know if anyone has topped this, I couldn’t find evidence it had at the time. I’ll post about this experience too as it was a hell of a long time…

…this was about a month ago, and Karen seems in near perfect working order today which I would attribute to her vitamin-rich diet.

“…waking up sweating and feeling very ill.”: Again, a natural reaction. ‘You’ are ill! Like with alcohol, it works ‘cause you’ve poisoned yourself! That’s what being drunk is, the poison affecting your body. For all our “love” of drugs, they are indeed poison, isn’t anything that feels good? Junk food, TV, smoking…everything fun is bad for you, except one…

…feeling ill is part of the immune response, which serves to alert your brain to the problem; the bad stuff in your system. If you didn’t feel ill you’d be a freak. Humans sweat out excess heat, they also expel toxins through this sweat. (heard of cold turkey sweats, alcohol sweats, meat sweats) these are all the human immune-system expelling toxins from the body.

Dangers: These are the symptoms you should be grateful for as they are repairing you from the damage you’ve done to your body…so you can go do it again…

“…wait it out or go to the doctor…”: Have you thought about what you would say to a GP? That you took some coke, don’t know what it was cut with, you feel sick and are worried you’ve damaged yourself. What do you expect they can do? Any damage from drugs that hasn’t taken you to the A&E already, is likely internal and complicated, and require specialist knowledge that GPs don’t possess.

They can only really give you other drugs, tell you what you probably already know; you're risking serious organ damage, or tell you to go to a hospital, where you face an inevitable, final, excruciating four hour stint in an A&E. We all end up there in the end so unless you need a prescription, a scare or someone to look something up for you, go straight to the place with the x-rays, scanners, ECGs, beds and consultants.

Karen called the GP out once, a rare service too, she should have got to a hospital straight away, and would have, if she knew what awaited her. If you do notice any chronic pain that’s not the result of obvious injury, learn from this story; …

… after a long night and 6 E tablets Karen noticed a pain in her lower abdomen like period cramps. It intensified steadily over a few hours and became so intense she could not ignore it. The GP arrived an hour and a half after the call. The surgery was a 5 minute walk away. He gave her some pain killers, which had no effect. The pain became unimaginable and unbearable. If you experience this lower abdomen pain after amphets, don’t ignore it even for a second, get to an A&E while you can still move.

In bed, the pain became so intense that all Karen could do was scream in agony and desperation. After hours of screaming in pain and desperation. It felt like disembowelment. It was pure hell. Inexplicable, Karen would not wish this pain on anyone. On the second visit the GP, ill-euipped to diagnose this internal pain, called a GP-facilitated ambulance, a non-emergency ambulance. If you think you’ve ever waited a while for one after calling 999, non-emergency ones take…well this one took an hour and a half. The hospital is a 5 minute drive from the house.

Upon arrival Karen, unable to function bar screaming, was trolleyed into the A&E. Possessed by the agony, she was grabbing staff by their lapels and demanding immediate euthanasia. She was given 2 shots of morphine which could not kill the pain, but did knock her out eventually. The aftereffects of morphine were not enjoyable and any positive effects she cannot recall due to the pain.

I think I know what caused this pain, so here’s your warning: never ignore lower-abdomen pain, it could be the liver expanding. Crudely, and paraphrasing a med student friend who was present; the liver expands if the body’s toxin levels are so high that the liver can't process them quick enough so gets bigger. It hurts like hell. If you told Karen she had to either go through this again or die, she would die.

It seems to have been caused by not urinating for around 24 hours. Never ignore the inability to urinate. This isn’t healthy and causes toxins to build up in the body.

Once told about the drugs, the once sympathetic A&E staff, immediately became short and disdainful and began to treat her like a street smack-head scumbag and she was ejected from the building as soon as she could walk.

It seems, a common trait with ecstasy only, the muscle used to, do the urination, the one you feel working when you pee, kind of freezes up! It’s weird, you need to pee, but you can't. If you ever have this you should force the pee out. Karen gave up the fight after a six hour stint on the toilet, pressing on her bladder with all the taps running. No matter how much effort or time it takes you, make sure you expel that urine if you want to avoid a similar experience.

It has been my general experience that people who have ADHD/ADD have an opposite reaction to drugs than people who don't. That's why they prescribe ritalin and other stimulants to treat it. Therefore, cocaine and other stimulants would also make someone with ADHD/ADD feel more mellow. But a depressent (alcohold, opiates, etc...) would also have an opposite effect and cause the person to have more energy.
