Dose - Dextromethorphan Polistirex Dosage?

How much DXM Polistirex is equivalent to the same dosage of DXM Hbr? My fish knows from experience that DXM Polistirex is no where near as strong as DXM Hbr at the same dosage but was wondering how much is equal to how much. If someone could somehow come up with an equivalent of the DXM Hbr chart on erowid for DXM Polistirex that would be awesome.

In SWIM's experience, DXM polistrex is, while not as strong as the HBr, longer lasting. For some, the effects can possibly last 18-24 hours, especially at higher doses. If SWIY is looking for a trip at the same strength of 500mg of HBr, then SWIM would say 800mg of the polistrex would be sufficient. Just keep in mind that it will last MUCH longer.

From what I understand 12 Hr DXM medicine lasts twice as long as the regular stuff because the 12 Hr stuff is bonded with an edible plastic and takes longer to break down in the digestive system for this reason. Therefore, SWIY should be able to consume twice as much as would normally be consumed with relatively the same effect but SWIY should count on the effect lasting doubly long considering it takes about double the amount of time to break down in the human digestive system, unless aided by an outside source such as alcohol or any other acceptionally corrosive substance. In that case I cannot say. What I know for sure is that Robitussin extracted DXM makes for a 4-6 hour trip in most humans and Delsum which contains the pre-mentioned time release chemical is intended to last 12 hours, trip or no.

Also, It's been hypothesized that because it takes longer for the body to metabolize the DXM, more of it is broken down into DXO, which leads to more of the physical effects, and less of the mental.

Dextromethorphan Polistirex is a time-release formulation of DXM; the "polistirex" refers to a sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer complex -- basically, an edible plastic (1-2). It is occasionally spelled polystirex or polystyrex. Unlike the HBr salt, which is absorbed fairly quickly, this compound is intended for longer duration cough suppression. Most, but not all, people who use DXM recreationally tend to prefer the HBr form (which is also much more readily available). The polistirex preparation will probably increase the ratio of DXM to DXO (see next section).

Dextromethorphan polistirex may be more toxic than the hydrobromide version, possibly due to buildup of DXM in the bloodstream
