MARIJUANA ACTIVIST CONSIDERS RUN FOR MAYOR IN ABBOTSFORD . . . AND MISSION

ABBOTSFORD - In B.C., it's legal to run for mayor in two different cities and someone's considering it this fall. Abbotsford resident and well-known marijuana activist Tim Felger is talking about running as mayor in both Mission and Abbotsford. Were he to be elected in both, Felger said, it would be a good way to perhaps bring in regional policies.

"As long as they felt they can carry two workloads, there's no law preventing it," said Abbotsford chief election officer Bill Flitton. "The only restriction in the legislation is that somebody cannot run for more than one office in one municipality."

"One of the main misconceptions we hear all the time is that you have to live in the same community in which you're running," added Mission deputy chief election officer Kelly Ridley. "You don't."

The voters, of course, will get to decide whether they want Felger as mayor

-- of either city.
