Hi all SWIM is going to Thailand next summer and he is wondering, how dangerous is it to get in Thailand, is it good stuff and is it easily accessible?
SWIM isn't asking for sources or anything like that...he basically wants to know if he should bother trying to find some in Thailand...
P.S SWIM read the rules but if SWIM didn't get something just delete it...

Doesn't matter what the law is. Law doesn't stop sellers selling and users buying. I know for a fact Thailand is full of drugs. From what I heard, Thailand is full of Meth and Heroin(china white). Probably can find some wherever there's a night life and I'd it seems like there's going to be gangs. Best luck would be at clubs or red light district.
"if SWIY should bother" - only you can answer that. Thailand is not like it used to be, it's a full blown first world economy hell bent on capitalising on tourists $$$'s. What you seek is as accessible there as it is anywhere and the dangers in such seeking are the same, the jails are worse than in the west so maybe it could be perceived that this increases the danger, the chance to buy your way out is very real if done early so perhaps this decreases the danger, it's your call. The Thai part of the Golden Triangle is well and truly a thing of the past, some opium is still produced by the hill tribes but nothing on commercial scale, this activity takes place in Laos and Burma nowadays. A trek from Pai or Chiang Rai into the hills may offer the opportunity for some Opium smoking as it is a condoned vice of the elderly (but becoming a major problem amongst the you her generation partly due to the influx of tourists who come along, smoke for a day or 2 and leave, the guide remains and takes the next group to smoke and falls into the trap of addiction). As I say, H is around and would be of a higher quality than the stuff in the west, generally unsuitable in it's sold form for smoking, tourists die each year in SEA when they snort what they think is cocaine but is actually China White H so this demonstrates the danger inherent in snorting it, you must decide what's t
Laos and Cambodia are fare easiest country for find quickly what u want..sometimes all drugs ( around 10 kind) in Happy pizza restaurant in poor area..u can orden it with ur food...( they don t like u take a pic s of the menu)

and last script speed mean locals WY methamphetamine red pill (cause burma buy old press pill from WYeth company)
but for thailand...realy it s a country u don t have to feel safe with drugs..had live there years...evrybody is drughead..but at home...u never take something in ur pockets...we were putting all staff down houses in the sand...
and never ask something to a local man..ask first to Farrang (strangers) where it s can be safe...undercover cops are evrywhere..last time in bkk i haven t anymore weed..i get crazy realy..some Black nigerian purpose me..i say no sure..go to sit few meters away...quickly young men will come to you..maybe 20 y.old asking if u want something if u smoke etc...ifu say yes also just about if u smoke,,...u gonna get big trouble...in bkk 1000 usd fin or a month jail...
I manage only a few time to get few gramms..Very good rocks No 4....but expensive..due to danger to mess with it...be careful in thailand realy...so many crazy stories..be realy carefull dude...

Not lived in Issan realy..it s beautiful countryside parts of north est Thailand..poorest area., then all girls married with stranger comes from this parts...red sand and little far west wood village., all people fuck up with rice alcohol (khao lao)...but no drugs...nothing...imagine my good friend was living up there in the village of his wife...30km from Buriram..i asked for some....and say i gonna ask in RX pharms..my friend told me i alredy tried without success...
i m lucky cause i can speak as a nurse...
i arrived and told to doctor(who was injecting vaccin to a young thai)...that s i was in trouble cause my girlfriend was afraid from taking plane and have phobic terror from flight and unlucky we was cause we have to fly to Bkk next days...explained him she have finish her quiet pill...and i truely need diazepam or some else same kind of...when he asked how much...i just said for 10, 10mg and he give it for free..
returned to village....we share with people and everybody thanks me for 2 days...there is fucking nothing to get high in issan, shrooms maybe u harvest from buffalo shits...
best is to take train until Vientiane...and enjoy there...it s a amazing supermarket

Ah how Snufkin misses AsiaHe conquered the river though
Snufkins experience of this region and what he heard from ex-pats living there and fellow travellers was that corruption is huge and more so in the tourist areas where money can be made. Tales of arrests taking place purely for the purpose of getting the arrested to buy themselves out were common as were plain cloths officers escorting tourists caught with contraband to cash points to empty their accounts. He spoke to some individuals who claimed to have experienced this themselves, not a "friend of a friend" etc. From what Snufkin experienced opium would be alot more easily available and at less risk than heroin. As previously mentioned in another post, mountainous areas may be the safest place to accept offers, if motorcycling alone in such regions being flagged down by a local could well be an attempt to sell opium. Snufkin was also told by a tour guide that on the entry or exit points to mountainous roads there may be police checks so if you were to have bought anything on your afternoon ride you may be in serious trouble.
note- Snufkin is sure not all of the regions officers are corrupt so banking on being able to buy yourself out of jail is not a wise bet. Additionally presuming an honourable and respectable officer to be corrupt will probably only worsen your situation

how do places like this restaurant just hand out a menu with drugs on them? i'm a bit perplexed, but intrigued!
if drug laws are so strict, how is it these places feel comfortable enough doing something like this? and do they only hand these menus to the younger people? what would an older "straight laced" couple think of this .... it's strange.
i guess these places have some kind of arrangement with the local police but i'd be worried they'd be waiting outside to arrest someone or there would be a raid inside.
i've never been to this part of the world, so have no idea how things work there, but if i were to get a menu like this and order off it, can you take it to go or are you supposed to only use while there? also, i wonder if they always have what's on the menu in stock. if so, that's quite a bit of product they'd have on them at all times.

This IS very interesting indeed! SWIM has a good friend who is originally from Australia and this friend spoke of doing many, many heroin "runs" to Thailand (no, not smuggling, just going over to stay for the sole purpose of getting high).... Friend said that it is quite easy if one uses some common sense. Apparently, the cabbies (for lack of a better term) are the ones to deal with. If a good rapport can be established between SWIY and a cabbie, they will usually ask if there is anything one may be "looking for ." This has been successful every time for SWIM's friend. At one point in time (not sure if it is still the case) one could go to a certain hotel where the bellhop was connected. After paying him his "finder fee" (about $20 in U.S. currency) one would be directed across the street and over a footbridge which ran over one of the main waterways. Directly after the bridge there was some kind of house or shack where one would be greeted and invited in. Then, a shopping bag was given, and one would "order" however many bags one wanted. The smallest bag was an ounce and was very, very cheap. About the same price as a gram in the U.S. today. After the 1-ounce packs are placed in the paper shopping bag, local produce is piled on top of the heroin. SWIM's friend got 8 ounces last time he was there and said that as soon as he walked back and got into his hotel, he tested the white powder and it was in the high-90% purity!

The town the menu was photographed in mainly attracted young people via its tourist activities. He is deliberately avoiding posting its name. Snufkin is said to have indulged in their opium spliff. He had already ordered and eaten a pizza then before leaving ordered said spliff which arrived quickly (on premises) in the form of a cigarette wrapped in a rizla internally coated with a brown tar like substance. From here he quickly, cautiously and very paranoidly walked back to his hostel where day later he smoke it alone outside and was blown away by its beautiful effects. At another bar runner would deliver mushroom shakes to you prepared off premises. Truly a magical place. Snufkin suspects the police are paid off.and occasionally nab a tourist as.previously described.
Snufkin would have to disagree with chinawhite with regards to trusting taxi drivers in this area specifically in Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Min City. In Snufkins experience any taxi or tuk tuk drivers are not to be trusted... It can be difficult enough to get them to take you to your planned destination without being ripped off aside from extra services like girl or drug finding. Sadly in these large cities popular with tourists, some locals simply see westerners as $ bills.

Ur friends story sound like a dream or was long ttime ago...in thailand.???..getting onces of no 4 after been connected by cabbie..maybe that s can be true..but lucky like wining a lotery..in these coutry., if the cabbie was not a cop or his brother,,.they always have one in family., the connected hotel the seller or the place where u get stuff s watched...all they wait s a rich strangers...for get maximum money., if there is only few policman they gonna give back stuff to seller and waiting for next dummie...
But for a city where if caught with more than 5 gr u gonna spent 20 30 years...it seeems to be abit too easy..that s my opinion...and prices i have ever heard all around Laos cambodia and Thailand was not so cheap as ur friend got...far far..

For the story...cause i me curious..i ve decided once to go up in the northto Luang namta...little moutain city..and rented a motorbike to drive to muang sing at 150 km direction china up in the north...Muang sing was the biggest opium market in the world in 1900...now it s quiet quiet..just a few tourist ask each other what s intersting to see around??? i joke and answered i guess we are 100 years too late...but little village continue to live from Op..and was quiet cheap....100gm ***** usd...and they was looking realy happy...
beautiful but poor and communist coutry...Communis=coruption=easy life for dealers., and even (by luck) for drugheads (who have money at ATM)......
in Thailand i felt scary about moving with something everytime...
in Laos and cambodia i always take with me few weed joint all day around withou stress...

these kind of restaurant can stay open in poor or little touristic area..wher ther s only 1 or 2 cop...paid that s sure..and totaly on drugs himself...
i pass a Songhran in a place as this one...and a man came to fill water gun in thebar i was..the Lao boy told me it was the policeman boss of the city...and he brang him some meth...and was totaly on too...It was new year.......: )

The hotel clerk part was very much different in that the friend was already set up for scoring the 1-oz. packs by a Thai associate back in the U.S. whose family was connected somehow to the wholesale dealer in Thailand. So, it was all set up by the time SWIM's friend got over there. Everything else was correct: the hotel, hotel clerk, the location of the wholesaler, price, purity, etc. Also, this was in the mid-to-late eighties.
Sorry about the previous inaccuracies. SWIM just needed to clarify here the facts as relayed to SWIM.

snufkin's experience does sound beautiful and magical. it's the kind of thing swim gets caught up in daydreaming about ... being in a lovely country, hearing and seeing things completely foreign to what you're used to, being served opium or heroin and mushroom shakes .... sounds so nice.
then el k adds his dose of reality back to swim's daydreaming!
really interesting stuff though, it's fascinating to read stories from people who have experienced it and see what the common ground seems to be and where they differ to get an idea for what the norm is and what can happen if someone gets lucky vs. someone being very unlucky.

Here s few little funny stories...in a famous island in thailand..where they do big party for fullmoon..there is a funny beautiful moutain bar where they sell all along years shrooms shake and weed...In the night with 5000 peoples on beach i prefer to go up in the bar...nice vue...
when i get the stairs down., a 15 y.old thai girl ask me if i want something..i answer No .looking downstairs., to see 2 men with leather shoes in sand took me by arms few meters away..and check all my clothes passport., asking if i took something? No...if i want something??????????? No...and they smoke one of my cigarette and the other play on the game of my celllphone(that s make me quiet cause i ve few acid blotter in the battry)..then they say ok gd evening..gd party...let me do a meter..with a big smile..and strongly saying...OK AGAIN CHECKING...and starting again..take clothes off...smoke my cig...play my cellphone for 10min..just for wachting at ur face if u start to stress..cause they see u re on (Acid for me)Drugs...
After a while they let me realy go...that s was to 2 A.M...i meet both of them in the morning 11 A.M at the end of party..they was always checking peoples., but fucking high on meth(in my opinion)..totaly dancing and smily without shirt..and enjoy to say to me good party....Lucky or unlucky that s the way...

sure that depend the time u have to spent there and to create affinity...by exemple., friend who live there and enjoy to pay for girls...always manage with the girls for buying which drug they want...that seems to be a safe cause she know her city realy far better than you...I never experiencing it cause to pay young girl for sex is realy a sade thing for me...Anyway.. sometimes i seen friend only pay girls for shopping and paying in sharing drugs with girls...
Phnom Phen gonna be the safer choice if the nearly only one purpose of holidays is to find some H...but everytime in so beautifull country u can enjoy simple life and after few weeks u understand u lose gd moments in following an addict life....just taking few days in the month left u with time., like u haven t had since longtime( for me)..if u have legally what u need..
Last is u have right to bring with u 1 month drug supply..after u have to see a doc there..and they give only methadone...

I was hooked up on Heroin over 3 years, also been using all other drugs before! And after my girlfriend decided she will study on Thailand , i sold my DJ equipment and we moved from Europe to Thailand!
At that time it was a great idea of trying something different, leave the drugs behing.etc! I am very lucky since my girlfriend never tried any of drugs, but shes was very reasonable with me!
So i took my last piece of heroin last day before going to Thailand more than a year ago!
I live on southern Thailand since i wanted to runaway from urban and tourist locations! Like someone said before ,situation on Thailand in not very good when its about drugs! Here on south, citys are overflooded with Malaysians, and you can easily find Crystal Meth, Speed...etc...but for H is totally different situation! Police is everywhere, and they are not bothering strangers...!
Only if you go to clubs they can arrest you and make you do a "piss test" ,i don't go to clubs, party's...but i am traveling all the time, and police never stoped me!
In Bangkok and islands you can find all kinds of drugs, but be awae of scams,undercover police...fake dilers ,they all work together!

Do not name specific areas to find drugs, or discuss fees.
Be very very careful, it WILL be closed and people will end up with infractions or getting banned if this continues.

My mate who lives out there says the police are totally corrupt and you can buy yourself out of trouble if you have enough money.

Yes i have gone to the drug prison "Bambat Phiset" and the Bang Kwan Central Prison for the reason they let people go visit people in prison there even if you do not know them to give them company. I wanted to see first hand about this and it is not a pretty site, the yard is that a "yard" but with dirt floors.. they say getting fronted drugs is easier than food and people steal your sleeping mat and shoes and what not daily and you sometimes live among rats.. I would def not want to live there, I suggest anyone going to Thailand to go for the beauty of it and enjoy the other pleasures of food, people and friends and sites.. temples and what not and leave your drug addictions and wants back in your home country
