First of all, my friend has been taking paroxetine for his depression, but it only was going deeper and deeper into depression. One time, he refused to take paroxetine any more because of anorgasmia side effect, so doctor switched him to venlafaxine (Efexor). And from the first day till this day, he feels alive, healthy and happy.
In general, it saved his life.

Good to hear it helped your friend.

For my panda it was literally the opposite. Effexor made him nauseous and anxious; he had to stop taking it.

Conversely Paroxetine/Paxil is the only anti depressant that has ever "worked" for him, on both depression and anxiety.
