obtaining Opium Tar from poppy

is it true that obtaining Opium Tar from opium poppy is so easy?


I've found such instructions on erowid:


[...] When the flowers go to seed, scrape the seed pods with a pin. Do it all
around the pod. As you do so, you will see little blobs of white coming
out. Leave the wounds to seep for a few hours.

A couple of hours later, go back and harvest your opium. By now, the white
blobs will have turned into black tar that can be scraped off and collected
on an old, blunt dinner knife or some such.

This really does work, and it is legal to grow the flowers. (at least, it
is in the UK.) However, once you start to scratch them, I suspect that you
become party to a conspiracy to manufacture. Not very clever. So be
careful. [...]

does it work? if it does, can I do it on growing poppies or can I pick them and do it home?

It works. the white stuff is rawopium.You can do it there or at home. A better way is to make 1-2mm deep cuts with a razor blade. Make a collar from aluminium foil around the stem below the pod that catches the latex that drips from the pod. You must only scratch the surface though, the opium runs inside the pod if you cut too deep. If that happens, open the pod later and wash the seeds with water and evaporate the water down.


If you take them home, pull them out with the root. Hang them upside down and make the cuts. Put something below them to collect latex that drips from the pod.


In both cases you can make many little pinches with a needle and scrape the dried gum from the pod later. Repeat slicing or pinching until the pod doesnt give latex anymore. From the "empty" pods you can still make tea.


I would do it about 10-14 days after they lost the petals. The pod should have dusty/frozen look. Sometimes little spots that give latex appear by themselfes. The pod is ripe then. At that time the morphine content is highest in the pod. Before and after it is/gets lower.


If you consume opium, remember that about 2 gram can kill a normal weight person. Thats a very rough number of course. Tolerance, age andhealth play a big role too. You should be fine with 0.5 gram if you dont have a tolerance.


The opium you have harvested is raw opium. This can be purified by "cooking" it. That is only recommendable for larger amounts, if you have only 5 grams or so its a waste of material.


I dont know why they suggest to scratch the pod all around. Its maybe a legal thing - you might only commit a crime when you slit the pod. If you do like they say you dont slit but cause some hurting that are "not on purpose". ?





All the above is only forinformational purpose. I have never tried it and I dont know anyone who uses drugs either. Drugs are bad and should be banned. Instead of using drugs people should watch more television. Edited by: bogumil

SWIM suggests to obtain the opium in the field instead of bringing them
home, as you can come back another day and get more opium.



But in SWIM's opinion, you should really burn any poppies you find, taking a note from bogumil.

I've just returned from my friends garden and made cuts on the pods but didn't put collars under the pods Do I have to return there and do it? Also, I don't know if the poppies are the right ones, they look similar to papaverum somniferum but not exaclty. They are 1.5m high but the pods have more triangular-likeshape, not ball-like. Anyway, the milk went out. Hope they will give some good high


When should I harvest opium? As fast as it turns black?

No, those are no opium poppies. Its either P. rhoeas or californica. Sorry dude. Check izmirpoppy.com or poppies.org for pics. The pod has to be round and the leafes have to be more greyish green with "teeth".


But you can experiment withthe latex. Maybe you have some fun with it, although I never heard about any effects fromthose varieties.Edited by: bogumil

eeeh, so I'll flush it in a toilet.. I wish I had some papaverum somniferum. Don't you know where to look for it? They grow wild?

Yes, they do. I never found any in my area though. They are not very common I would say. Why dont you just get you some seeds and start a small garden? Only if it is legal of course.

It's definetely not legal in my country which is unfortunettely very strict when comes to drugs. I wouldn't bother if the stuff was accesiblebut it's just impossible to get opium here. Heroin shit, of course, as in every country, but not this.


Maybe it's possible to plant poppies indoor? If not, I would do it somewhere in a forest. How long does it take to grow it and harvest?
