Odd happenings on Roxicodone
SWIMs girlfriend and he have been doing Roxicodone (M30s or A215s) for the past year and somewhat frequently as of last two months. SWIM and her do one each and never more of 30mg to do lines, and just go on for crazy hours of fantastic sex but it seems that sometimes, especially as of lately, swims girl has to stop about an hour or two in for unbearable itching, she is constantly in pain scratching saying theres nothing to do to fix it except lie down, scratch intensley and cry which doesnt seem good. They have tried different brands and get the same results, even taking 2 pills of benadryl prior to use and sa of yesterday does not help too much, she can be down from 5-45 minutes of just itching. What reason would this have to happen? They have been taking the same amount for the past year, doing them more frequent as of late but never doing more, the only other difference is it seems les potent, possibly because of the frequency. Halp them?

Re: Odd happenings on Roxicodone
Hmm that does seem really strange. The more often SWIM does opiates the less itches he gets. SWIY's girlfriend could try another anti-histamine like promethazine or cetirizine or could try switching to a different opiate. Although if it was SWIM and his girlfriend they would probably try having a break for a while. Opiated sex is fun but surely it gets a bit boring after a while? Plus opiate addiction isn't good.

Re: Odd happenings on Roxicodone
^^ indeed. the idea to try a different antihistamine is a good one as well. the active ingredient in roxicet is oxycodone, same as in oxycontin, and the cat has always gotten itchy from that in particular, although benadryl (diphenhydramine) works well without making her nod too much.
the only other thing the cat could think to do to mitigate the side effect is to decrease the dose...or maybe take a break. there won't be any sex if wd's are happening! best of luck, keep posting about if and how the problem gets resolved! |

Re: Odd happenings on Roxicodone
Although itching is a side effect, severe itching like that can be a sign of allergy. Certainly if it is bad enough to cause her to cry one would think that an allergy could be a significant thought too.
I seem to remember someone telling me that the itching is also an allergy in just about anyone - but that some get it mild and some severe. Swim would be keeping her eye out for other dangerous side effects each and every time you use it, if you do use it.. if it is an allergy it has the potential to get severe ANY time. Allergies do not always remain stable - one can develop a mild allergy and then ten years later have it suddenly become severe and life threatening. I dont mean to scare, just a caution.
