Countering amphetamine insomnia
Any safe ways to get some sleep with amphetamines in your system. SWIM has tried melatonin and valerian root and they did little or nothing, Well SWIM shouldn't say nothing SWIMs noticed that with some melatonin or valerian in him he's likely to stay unconscious for at least a couple of hours if he happens to drift off to sleep. The problem is drifting off to sleep though. SWIM could be lying there for 6 hours straight and he'll never come close to dozing off.
SWIMs found alcohol to work well but he has to mill half a liter of vodka into him. Obviously thats not the healthiest or most economically feasible approach. Any tips? |

Re: Countering amphetamine insomnia
Oh, how Swim hate insomnia.
Melatonin and Valerian root are helpful to many but countering the powerful effects of amphetamines probably won't work well on insomnia. Seroquel is harsh but sometimes prescribed for insomnia. It is a major tranquillizer (atypical antipsychotic) that usually makes people very sleepy. It has some harsh side effects though. Benzodiazepines (minor tranquillizer/CNS depressant) may make Swiy sleepier but Swim supposes they may be more expensive or harder to obtain. Swim does not know of specific sleep medication, however he thinks that a trip to a doctor may help (possibly complain of excess energy). Oh, and before swim forgets; count sheep. (other tips would be make room very dark and get a more comfortable bed) |

Re: Countering amphetamine insomnia
Swim use to have to take more amphetamine to get to sleep. Of course, swim is looking back now and thinking it was a terible idea.
Actualy, swim has to use self-hypnosis to fall asleep. Insomnia ![]() Oh yeah! Found gummy bears!!! (Sorry for the interuption. It was important a second ago. Now I'm done chewing and all is back to normal again.) How about this. If your friend wants to lower the brain wave frequencies enough to take it down a notch: Read this to your friend: -Get comfortable and relax as much as possible. -Take 3 deep EASY, SLOW breaths like this... breath in deep and easy, hold for just a second, exhale. Do this 3 times (mimicing the kind of deep breathing done during sleep). -Now just start at your feet and relax the tops of the feet, the bottoms of the feet, up the ancles..... etc. Don't worry about struggleing to try to 'feel it relax'... just keep the breathing rythm and use your mind to run up your body relaxing each part. It will give our mind something to do other than figet and worry. Tell your friend that if his/her brain is running wild and refusing to 'shut up', to take the blood flow away from the brain to a small extent... run very cold water over his/her wrists until it's so cold it all but hurts. Then DON'T dry them. Go directly to bed and get into the fetal position with the wrists under the arm pits. This will cause the blood to circulate more in the pit/wrist area instead of brain buzzing. nojokeshere added 1 Minutes and 6 Seconds later... Oh - I forgot... Swim takes nightquil before bed sometimes too. Last edited by nojokeshere; 25-06-2009 at 05:01. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
