as far as swim know those should be fine. however, from what swim has seen with the purple variety(uh... don't know the names of the different kinds) in his garden, they take an increadably long time to make pods (even after reaching a good size: 2.5 meters high while twirled around a telephone pole in swim's garden ). from what swim understand the pollenated flowers fall off and then a pod grows from that spot. seeds are in the pods. pods did finaly apear, but have been aproximetly(sp) the size of a small marble for the last month and a half, and are white in collor (look like small onions and contain around 5 small white and green seeds each). durring that month time many more pods popped up but the origional ones grew sooo slowly that they are still white and aren't very much bigger.
but they must grow out eventualy, and that will be worth waiting for. But in the mean time, swim would recomend just buying seeds if swiy is not interested in waiting that rediculously(sp) long time. sorry if this is unescaserily(sp) long. |

I think all morning glory varieties have LSA in their seeds but it's heavenly blues, flying saucers and pearly gates which have the highest levels.

need to feed the plant with some flowering boosting fertilizer or something like that for the pods to grow quicker I guess.

I always have Morning Glorys somewhere. They are just to easy and come in a huge array of colors and types. Growing a weed is sometimes a good thing for those without green thumbs.
Sow the seed where it will grow all spring, summer, and fall. Transplanting they no likey. Go get any potting mix one that has slow feeding 20-20-20 if you can. Go semi-organic with ferts. Go get blood meal, bone meal. Sprout the seeds in a moist paper towel in an open ziplock bag. 12 hours usually and do not let the root tail get large at all. Add soil to your planter or pot. sprinkle a light layer of bone meal on top. water the dirt so it's moist. Plant the seeds more on the shallow side and you should see a sprout in a day or two. Put out in full sun next to something it can climb. Let the soil dry out good before watering. Once the Morning Glory plant is well established and flowering, add a layer of bone meal around the plants. Once every 4 weeks add bone meal. Also a light dose of chemical 20-20-20 can be added or a 15-3-15 but use these as a last resort. Where ever you see a flower a pod will form after the flower falls off. Wait until the seeds are going to fall from the pods and harvest. Morning Glorys produce large amounts of seed. So much so that most wild Morning Glorys re-seed and are considered a weed called bindweed. Also if you grow from seed you will find a heavenly blue seed in a pearly gates or Granpa Ott. packet. If you live in the southern states and don't mind boring flowers the add this to you garden asap. http://www.erowid.org/plants/ololiuqui/ololiuqui.shtml It's closer to HBWR then MGs but grows like a MG. |
