A month in hell resulting in a lifetime of hellish disorders
Swim went here. This is the worst rehab swim has ever been to and the last. Let swim explain.
Swim will start off by saying the actual facility is amazing. Nice beds, nice rooms, amazing kitchen, amazing food, amazing work out room, great skiing. You ski at least 2 times a week. And you have the option to ski an extra day also. You ski in aspen at buttermilk and the highlands.
The staff has developed a recovery style that swim being from the south, and only having participated in Californians recovery scene, has never seen.
The style is basically nazi. They are constantly in your face questioning your beliefs. If you don't think like they do, they ask you to leave.
About 1/3 of the people who enrolled in the 4 month in patient program were asked to leave. And did. The program has now been changed to 3 months probably because of low completion rates. The fact that jay walker kicks a ton of people out has nothing to do with them relapsing. it has everything to do with their attitude or behavior. This is all very subjective. Swim has seen people get kicked out for reasons he agreed with. Mainly he saw a bunch of people get kicked out for bull shit reasons that were totally subjective and most people did not agree with. The head guy would constatly scream at the entire group of guys who having attitude problems. Dan is his name.
Jay walker lodge has an interesting system called peer evaluation. They have an official form for it to. The form is passed around to every patient in the program except the person who is being reviewed. They then gather everyone into one room and have them read it out a loud. Basically officially taking someone else inventory. A very anti AA philosophy for a so called 12 step based program. When swim questioned a rehab counselor on the this fact he told swim this is rehab not AA.
So anyways this official peer evaluational ask questions such as: what are the strengths and weakness of this person. Rate their attitude. and so for. They also allow for people to write in personal comments about this.
If any body who is reading this knows what kind of people are in inpatient rehab you will strongly understand what kind of problem a situation like this can create.
You are being judged by heroin, crack, and methamphetamine addicts who all have less than 120 days of the drug. In addition they probably all have some sort of other mental disorder.
This is one of the strictest rehabs swim has ever been to. You are not allowed to leave the property with out letting some one know.
Swim now has 16 months sober. J walker allows for people to receive 75 dollars a week for cigs and extra food and stuff. so swim saved that up and walked to the greyhound bus and bought a ticket home. that was 15 months ago.
The plus of j walker. It is so bad you will never ever want to go to rehab again and will stay sober through out.
swim would like to mention that no one who went to rehab with swim is still clean and sober. Everyone relapsed at least once. except swim.
By the way swim received the worst peer evaluation that anyone has ever heard including the staff. He talked to the nicer staff members about it. lol
Do not go to this rehab unless you want to trade your drug addiction for severe psychological issues.
