benzodiazepines & exercise

Would
anyone know what the risks / effects are of taking Valium or other
Benzo's and exercising? I don't mean popping 3 pills and going out
running, but kind of taking Benzo's recreationally and then next day
going to the gym, for example.

It's somewhat a bad idea to expose oneself to athletic exercise while taking benzoes.Coordination is affected and also the muscle tone - even with minimal doses. Also the body temperature drops. While I personally desire that feeling, lack of proper body heat while practicing an exercise reduces its efficiency.Again, being clumsy in a gym can put a man to many risks.

The only point of encouragement would be the fact that after some time the organism develops tolerance which reduces those effects

There is no risk in taking Benzos one day then excersizing the next. The only forseeable risk would be excersizing while taking Benzos which could hamper your coordination. There is no inherent cardiovascular/metabolic risk though

Thanx for the advice. I'll check the half-time of whatever I'm taking.

Wasn't planning to space out and go out running either

More wondering how much time one should have between having some pills
thrills & belly-aches ... and doing the 7 km and gym routine. <img>

cheers, o.

Re: benzodiazepines & exercise

Interesting topic, I've been wondering this as I did some weights the other day after taking some Clonazepam to sleep the night before (3mg) and I noticed it was a hell fo a lot harder to do the weights, I was able to do much less and was much more out of breath with a higher BPM. I assume this is not really dangerous though?

Re: benzodiazepines & exercise

SWIM does 60-70 minutes of treadmill every day at 5.4 miles per hour speed. SWIM has done 1 hour of treadmill and more on benzos and amphetamines and had no health troubles, physical or mental.
