Alright SWIM just came back from the hospital and got around 25mg of IV morphine for his migraine... They then give SWIM 12x30mg codeine...
The question is will SWIM's liver be able to transform the codeine into morphine even if he got IV morphine 30mins ago? Other Question is 25mg of IV morphine a lot? SWIM didn't really get high but it did got rid of the pain really well... ![]() My Friend Says Thanks A Lot, SunnyHours |

Re: Codeine after Morphine? Makes a Difference?
Roughly: 25mg Morph IV= 8mg oral Dilaudid (K8's)= Oxycontin intranasal 40mg. So a moderate dose of strong opiates, morphine is around 2.5x stronger IV than oral. Yes the prodrug Codeine could still metabolise to M even if there was already M in the system. And 360mg codeine is very recreational for someone without a tolerance but I doubt that was the point in an operating theatre.

Re: Codeine after Morphine? Makes a Difference?
The post above is pretty much on. But those codeine may have APAP in them, which could make it very dangerous to take all of those codeine at once.

Re: Codeine after Morphine? Makes a Difference?
If one had the choice, taking the drugs the other way around would be more beneficial since:
{a} Morphine isn't a prodrug, it's already active {b} Codeine inhibits enzymatic pathways which breakdown morphine SWIM would think its a waste taking codeine after M, but he like to get every bang for every buck... |
