DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
US Attorney General Eric Holder confirms states to have final say on use of marijuana for pain control
"Supporters of programs to provide legal marijuana to patients with painful medical conditions are celebrating Attorney General Eric Holder’s statement this week that the Drug Enforcement Administration would end its raids on state-approved marijuana dispensaries. Federal raids on medical marijuana distributors continued at least into the second week of Barack Obama’s presidency, when federal agents shut down at least two dispensaries in California on Feb. 3. Holder was asked about those raids Wednesday in Santa Ana, Calif. ... He said such operations would no longer be conducted." etc.. for more, search Google News for the words Holder marijuana. |

Re: DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
I was listen to the news today while driving to work , on the radio, when I heard of this new policy .
The news stated that the federal cops would halt raids on medical marijuana dispensories that are in states that have approved its use. a major step in the freedom to choose . But during the same news broadcast I heard that a Democrat Senator wants thougher laws on methamphetamines and ecstasy. I will look for the story and post it . |

Re: DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
I hope you're right in that the Federal Government actually follows through with this directive of discontinuance.
If so, I'll have to retract what I've been saying about them: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...26&postcount=2 |

Re: DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
Definitely sounds like Obama stepped in and put his foot down, but not publicly.
I like his style... |

Re: DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
This is such a welcome change. Really happy to see that so many good people who have been out there abiding by their state's laws and putting their necks on the Federal line will no longer have the specter of a pointless raid looming over them.
And just in time for SWIM's annual prescription renewal! |

Re: DEA to halt medical marijuana raids
The raids should have never happened. Teachers have taught Seperation of Powers forever. With the Checks and Balance system, federal government couldn't over rule a state government. But then again it's a one way door. The states care enough about their citizens to let them have a safer alternative to the highly addictive and possibly deadly medicines. Not to mention it provides relief for those that vicodin, ritalin, etc. don't (HIV/AIDS & cancer patients). Now imagine the entire DEA, or federal government being diagnosed with AIDS, cancer, or any other disease or medical condition for which marijuana 'provides relief.' they would want it. They would infact change laws to make it accessible. Although the Obama administration is already leaps in front of the previous administration. The time is now for it to be federal law. Lobbyists aren't doing enough in some states.
