Amphetamines and exercise

Sometimes, but by no means every time, SWIM goes to the gym after doing a few lines. She does not do this immediately afterwards, usually allowing an hour as if digesting food. Swim is worried about the strain on her heart, so she deliberately goes for a relatively gentle workout rather than pushing her body further than it could go naturally which can be tempting. Swim finds that exercise helps her relax and sleep better whether on speed or not.
She used to dance for eight hours on speed without worrying about her heart but she worries now because in relative terms she is more sensible.
Should swim worry if she is careful in this way, within the limits of her controlled, but none the less habitual, use of amphetamine?
By the way swim eats normally on speed days as well (ie 2 or 3 times) just a bit less than on the 2 or 3 days per week on which she forces herself to do without. This means that she replenishes energy used with the trusty old "emergency bananas" and dried fruit etc...

Re: Amphetamines and exercise

Well..

Swiy is obviously taking precautions and knows of the possible strain on her heart.. Swim has done stupid things himself (had sex for 5 hours and felt like he was going to have a heart attack afterwards..!)

Swim would advise not doing it.. besides if swiy is doing a lighter jog than she would otherwise.. wouldn't swiy be better off not doing the speed, having a more intense run, as this would get swim fitter? And possibly put less strain on the heart.

Swim thinks in general there's nothing to worry about, as people usually do speed then go dancing for hours etc.. but be careful =)

Also, every once in a while, try to take a break from speed for a couple of weeks.. do this to see if Swiy has cravings or not. It's easy to become dependent without realising.. if Swiy does get cravings then set swiyself an allotted amount of time to stay off it, and if Swiy must use it again, plan swiy's usage and stick to it religously.

Ultimately amphetamines are addictive and if Swiy is using them even semi-regularly, it is a problem Swiy will have to deal with. Best to nip it in the bud before it gets to be a real problem.

Swim speaks from experience =(

Re: Amphetamines and exercise

Thanks for swiys post, and the advice within it.
Swim knows that she is dependent though she regulates it to a degree, in that the amount she does is quite small, and she does not do it at work, and generally tries not to do it on workdays. If swim were to get a job which was 5 days in a row (rather than 3-5 days a week as her current one is) this could be a problem! Although she does much less than she used to (swim quit for 2 and a half years then went back on it oops...) she finds it hard to go more than 5 days without due to extreme lack of motivation and cravings
Swim is completely aware also that the amount is going up slowly but surely.
Swim knows she is fit because she walks for at least half an hour a day, and can run up the four flights of stairs at work no trouble, so really the issue is one she knows she will have to face someday, that she keeps putting off... ie taking a break as swiy says...
Sometimes swim knows the answer really but needs to be told to reinforce it and maybe even act upon the advice once in a while ha ha)

SWIY sounds very sensible to SWIM!! Naturally be precautious but, is this not what this drug was designed for?
Love to all...
