antipsychotics and dependence

I have been taking 1 mg of Risperidone before bed as prescribed by my psychiatrist since last August. My ability to sleep is dependent on my nightly dose, before taking the drug I had no problem falling asleep but as of now it its impossible to sleep without Risperidone. Soon I shall be coming off the drug, and will find this challenging. Have others had difficulty coming of antipsychotics? What has been your experiences?

Swim has been trying to get off the anti-psychotic. It's difficult. For one, Swim becomes moody and angry about nothing. The anti-psychotic must have done something to swim's mood. It sedates and calms swim, and it acts like a painkiller, and as an escape too. It seems like....if swim can't tell what it's doing to help than there must be no reason to take it, swim wonders if swim is more borderline or something else. Without mood problems and being completely screwed up by medications swim might be independently healthy. But maybe it's no big deal...

Advice: Try melatonin. It seems to help fix sleep cycles.

Say what!?
What antipsychotic (beyond chlorpromazine and methotrimeprazine/levomepromazine) acts like a painkiller?
I am genuinely(sp? English is not my mother tongue) interested!
