Experiences - Cigarettes and Ketamine, Don't Mix!

While on ketamine SWIM nearly burned down the house tonight.
Evidently he had been smoking a cigarette when the ketamine hit, then dropped the cigarette onto a T-shirt on the floor when he dosed off. The T-shirt caught fire and if it hadn't been for SWIM's cat a whole lot more would have been in flames. He doesn't recall any of it though, and fears he actually lit the cigarette after he was well on his way into the K-realms. Luckily the cat meowed so much that the other residents of the house noticed so they came and put the fire out. They couldn't get in contact with SWIM at the time. Although he was moving his arms and hands around in various mudras there seemed to be "nobody home". So imagine the shock SWIM faced when he came to himself returning from, his perspective, a pleasant peaceful journey in the K-realms. This has happened to SWIM before, the first time a friend accidently dropped by at the same time SWIM's duvet was on fire and the friend had thrown the duvet out the window and actually saved SWIM's life. When he woke up they had an argument over what really had happened because SWIM was pretty sure he knew what he had been doing, but the smoking evidence on his lawn unfortunately was pretty substantial.

When he first started using ketamine SWIM would often smoke half a joint or cigarette on the onset of the trip to boost the overall experience, it didn't cause any problems as he was well aware of when the ketamine was kicking in, and always managed to put the joint or cig in the ashtray in due time. Many many trips later this isn't the case nomore, and SWIM is scared of these PCP-like episodes where his body is causing havoc while his mind is in space.

So if SWIY is a smoker and does ketamine in K-hole dosages be VERY carefull, I'd advice SWIY to place your cigarettes and lighters out of reach, in another room, to avoid the temptation of the evidently nicotine-craving dissociated mind.

Swim's best advice - quit smoking! No seriously, surely Swiy can learn from two bad experiences not to light up after you have administered ketamine. In future, if Swiy has to smoke, do it before dosing and extinguish it before you drop off into "K-realms" as Swiy calls it.

Yes SWIM has learned his lesson, this was just a warning so others could avoid doing the same. SWIM is finished with ketamine. The first bad experience happened well over a year ago, and he has taken a K-hole without problems with 4-5 month intervals. But he doesn't dare solo-tripping on ketamine anymore and to him it's not a social drug so there is really no point in dosing for him anymore, other than a trip to nostalgia that never seems to be what was experienced initially anyways. He requires quite high doses due to some degree of chronic tolerance, and even though he is capable of reaching a dissociated state the anaestethic effects are completely absent, meaning he can walk around doing shit while he is K-tunneling.

SWIM heard of a guy setting fire to his bed in the same way on K. If SWIY absolutely has to smoke maybe consider roll-ups because they go out a lot more - straights just keep on burning.
