Drug info - How long does it take to get into Bupe or Methadone maintenance?

I am going to call around tomorrow for both Bupe and Methadone treatment programs. I live in Illinois btw.

I was wondering HOW LONG would it take for me to get either Bupe or Methadone from the day I called.

For Bupe, I am guessing I have to make an appointment. How long does it usually take to get an appointment. Does the doctor prescribe Bupe from the first day you visit him if you have the right criteria?

For Methadone, is there really the fabled numerous month wait to get it?

Cant answer your question that accurately because i dont know US medical systems or law but i would imagine that whichever maintaince treatment is given it would be much earlier than a month. SWIY would have to see a doctor to get a valid prescription but one would imagine that as soon as a doctor has been seen SWIY should be able to get the drugs immediately.

In the Uk, addicts can be prescribed methadone within a day of deciding they want to try to detox.

For Red Rock, in order to get on methadone, he had to go to the clinic and they assessed him by asking him lots of questions and measuring his severity of withdrawal by checking things such as his heart rate, pupil size, temperature, etc. After they did all of that, he was able to start on a small size of methadone that same day and then they kept increasing the dose slowly.

As for bupe, Red Rock made an appointment to go in and see the doctor which took 2 days to get in and then after talking to him for a while and them doing a quick assessment, the doc wrote the script for Suboxone and Red Rock went on his merry way to go get it filled. So that process only took a couple of hours all together after Red Rock was able to get in an see the doc.
