Effects - Red skin and light itching

My furry albino sea turtle has been consuming 20 mg IR Twice a day for a little over a year... Well the vet recently told me that my furry turtle is "sleepier" than the "average" narcoleptic person but does not have Narcolepsy due to the absebce of SOREMPs..... ANYWAYS the vet said it was cool to keep taking it and advised the little guy to take 3 a day. My turtle got a little crazy the last couple days and has taken roughly 200 mg in the last 48 hours. The fuzz ball is acting fine but when he got out of a warm dip in the ocean of tap water he came out with a red tint to his skin and he was itching as if he had takin' a lot of niacin. Due you think this is just a side effect the the over consumption of the IR? He has done just about the same thing with XR's before and had none of those effects.
