I'm sure a few of you must be familiar with Leary's eight circuit model of the mind (http://deoxy.org/8circuit.htm).
I recently heard about it and how he theorizes there is a specific drug, or group of drugs which turn on each of the circuits. My question has to do with some of the entheogens which are only more recently becoming popular, such as salvia, sinicuichi, zacatachichi, amanitas etc. Which circuits would you all think each of these entheogens turn on? A related question has to do with some of the newer research chemicals which have effects similar to other drugs. If 2C-B is (roughly) similar to both an ecstasy and an LSD trip, does it activate both of those circuits, or neither? Could a chemical be found that could activate all of the circuits at once, and if so, what would the consequences be? Quite a lot of questions to ask all at once, but hopefully it will prove to be an interesting thread ![]() |

Let me being by thanking you for that link... i have always been
looking for a way to describe the different feelings and emotions of drugs, and this has helped me greatly. As for the entheogens that you listed, im just going to describe which in a short statement... Salvia: I would but this at circuit VI. It is a hallucionagenic, but not one like Mescaline or Psilocybin... this hallucionagenic is much more potent and has much more powerful effects. Im sure that the dosage of all of these substances changes its effects greatly, but this seems to fit it quite well. Of course, it is very difficult to say... Sinicuichi: For this drug, it is especially difficult to say. So little is known about this psycoactive's effects, that judging its circuit is most difficult. Erowid claims that it was used by the Aztecs many years ago as a hallucionagenic, which probably would have it fit into V if it is a weaker one, or into VI if it proves to be somewhat stronger. Im sorry i cant say much about this entheogen... but little is known of it... Zacatachichi: Once again, a drug with little information about it. Erowid describes it as a "Dream Potentiator", which fits nicely into the V category. That link you provided uses the comparison to when an astronaut looks down on earth while in space. The feeling that exists, but cannot be explained is what they are saying. Sure you can IMAGINE it or see a PICTURE of it, but you can never truely experience it unless you do it yourself. This is comparitive to dreams. You can recall what they are and tell others, but these people cannot understand what it was like to BE in that dream. Sure you can tell them or draw them a picture or hell, even make a movie about it, but they cannot know. It is just that feeling that you have but cannot describe. That is why I place this in the 5th ,or V, category. Amanitas: These, can more simply be put into the same category as psilocybe mushrooms. Although the effects and such are differnet, they share common factors that could place them in the same category. The psilocybe mushrooms were placed in V and VI circuits, simply because of the mix of effects from the 2 circuits. This would be about where amanitas fall. Now as for 2C-B... This is difficult to explain. The fact it is SIMILAR ecstasy and LSD experiences does not necessarily make it fall into both of these categories, but more or less provides a similar ground on which to base both of these 2. More or less, it does not provide a psycadelic trip much like LSD, but simply provides the "feel" of LSD. And the feel of ecstacy, although strong, is still a bit more then you could state for 2C-B. I find little similarity to these 2 substances, even though i understand where you are coming from in explaining this relationship between them. I would personally place this in about the V or VI section due to its similarity to a low-power hallucionagenic/ stimulant. However, i expect much controversy over my decision, being as I know little about the effects of 2C-B. Feel free to argue my decision of placing this RC into V/VI circuits. And for a chemical that could activate ALL circuits... i dont believe it could possibly exist. Our brains would probably be overloaded by the feeling/experience and we would most likely lose a grip on all reality upon using this. It would be a far too intense pull of emotions and feelings for someone to enjoy. The SLIGHTEST change in mood could set off an insane domino effect of freak-outs, panics, ecstacy (the emotion, not the drug), love, and hatred. It would be pure madness, and im sure no one would willing put themselves through this emotional hell... Just my thoughts upon that. Thank you for reading it all, if you did. I am more then open to any arguements/suggestions to how i rated these. Peace |

as for opening alll the circuits i would guess that like Stingray said
it would be way to powerful and intense. But on the otherhand it may be the coolest and most awakening experiances. I would want to try it. Well maybe. I think that if it exsisted and i had some that curiousity would over come me. But anyone that would want to take it would need a strong mind and be able to handle very extreme of drugs to try to tackle the beast of the All Circuit Drug. |
