HPPD (flashbacks) and Anxiety

Hi guys,

SWIM is [STILL] thinking of trying Acid soon, but has a couple of questions.

1. SWIM has had a few panic attacks recently, due to either the small amounts of speed he's had, or the recent and sudden life changes he has experienced, he's not sure which. He's wondering how this could affect his trip if these panic attacks have stopped and he seems to have adjusted to those life changes?

2. SWIM is a reletively frequent ecstasy user. He has noticed what appear to be mild visual disturbances i.e difficulty looking at something like a curly phone wire, as well as seeing spots in the sky. The most disturbing one being inanimate objects moving by themselves. He's not a doctor, but it sounds like these things are symptomatic of both ecstasy related HPPD and the panic attacks he's been experiencing. Is SWIM at risk of developing HPPD?

Re: HPPD and Anxiety

swiC's experience is that high anxiety and panic can cause some really awful trips. if SWIY's been having panic attacks i'd recommoned waiting until SWIY's sure the anxiety and likelyhood of panic attacks had gone. not sure about the HPPD. but it goes away anyway when you take breaks. and sometimes it can be entertaining when waiting for a bus. so swiC says anyway. if SWIY're worried about it perhaps not doing it is best. or at least start small.

Re: HPPD and Anxiety

This is my zebra talking (obviously):

"You're probably right about the break from pills. Haven't touched speed since the panic attacks.

Thats kinda why I'd love to fall in love with Acid... So I can stay away from pills a bit more, lol.

Well, it's happening tomorrow, half a tab methinks. I'll let you guys know how it goes. If I don't assume I went insane. "

Woah.

Just. Woah.

That was absolutely incredible.

SWIM has so so so much to say about that experience. But for the purpose of this thread:

The anxiety was not really there. SWIM felt like SWIM knew who SWIM was. SWIM could feel his, and all his fellow trippers personalities resonating through the confusion and madness and pure joy the LSD brought about, so SWIM was never really worried. Even when swim felt his skin be ripped from his body in one clean sweep. It felt very weird, and it was the scariest thing ever, but he was also surrounded by everything beautiful so he wasn't worried.

Even when one of SWIM's friend freaked out and became abusive, it was ok. He was very very very worried until his other friend said "I'm so scared!" and he replied with "Why? We're 8 people in a park, one of whom isn't happy for some reason." and he realised how normal and not scary the situation was. The friend, unfortunately, ran off into the bushes, and ditched all of his things screaming “what else do you want”. This was a very difficult thing to deal with first trip, but luckily there were more experienced trippers with us. That person is now perfectly ok.

As for the HPPD... Well, it's possible. But at the same time, SWIM feels like... In regards to what SWIM though was Ecstasy related HPPD, he now feels like he knows what reality is, so those mild but constant hallucinations have vanished. He's seen real madness, so now this reality is infinitely more defined. It is excellent.

My monkey would like to add: "The park we were in looked like a total magical wonderland. Everything changed colour constantly, through the whole trip. And I’m talking bright bright red’s and purples and oranges. Sweeping planes of grass changing colour all the time. And detail. Detail detail detail. I could see, feel, hear, smell, taste and touch everything all at the same time. But the thoughts! Everything was so confusing and interesting and playful and hilarious. I’ve never experienced anything so intense."

Re: HPPD and Anxiety

Swim gets bad anxiety sometimes (especially just before taking LSD) but as swim starts to feel the effects of lsd he gets a big surge of anxiety and goes real disorientated to a point where he cant walk and it feels like hes about to fall through the floor, this lasts about 15mins (i think) then he gets to a point where he doesnt care anymore and the anxiety and disorientation go almost instantly. Swim has experienced this so many times now that hes realised its just like his body's self defence mechanism, almost as if his mind and body are getting rid of all the bad energy in his body so he doesnt have a bad trip. Swim has never had a bad trip (yet?) even at the worst of times, when someones gone mad or swim has to hide the fact that hes on LSD.

In swims opinion, anxiety helps LSD trips, if you know how to control it

Re: HPPD and Anxiety

Swim is guessing that getting nervous before taking his first dose of LSD ever is normal, and aslong as he has researched and read up on it, there is still a low chance that he will have a bad trip. Swim would also be excited.
