Storing - Kava-Kava’s shelf life?

Well I just found a nice big bag of kava from about 6-8 months ago and I was wondering if it will have any potency left. It was whole root and it still smells decent, a few rubs on the gums also cause the numbing effect so perhaps I should give it a wirl. I'm mainly concerned about if it is wise to consume almost year old kava.

I realize that this is a very old thread however I have a similar question which I feel would be better posted here instead of creating a whole new thread but firstly...

sands of time: I quess if it was stored properly over this period of time there is a good chance it's still very potent. Swim keeps his stash in the freezer as he does with all his herbs.

Now in regards to my question I was just wondering how long can Kava (already made) be kept in the fridge? Swim made a batch of Kava enough for a couple of doses and was just wondering how many days it would last in the fridge?

swim thinks if it is kept away from heat and light it should be fine for an extended period of time. probably a month or two.
