Severity of Oxycodone withdrawl after 1 year.
Wondering the severity of withdrawl after taking 80MG of Oxycontin for about 1.3 years and stopping cold turkey. Someone I know does not seem to think it would be a big deal but I'm saying different.
thx. |

Re: Severity of Oxycodone withdrawl after 1 year.
cold turkey. it will be absolute hell...but the hell won't last long.
day one is a piece of cake because residual amounts of oxy are still in your system day two is bad...but it's still basically "the calm before the storm" day three and four will be the worst of your life....but that's when it peaks....and by day five the worst is over and you'll be feeling better. best thing u can do is eat HEALTHY....EXERCISE as much as possible to get your endorphins working....and take multi-vitamins..... benzo's like valium or xanax will help ALOT.....but thats a dangerous game right there. I detoxed from opiates once and got hooked on benzo's afterward. there's no point swapping one addiction for another. |

Re: Severity of Oxycodone withdrawl after 1 year.
To accurately predict that your detox will be X, Y and Z is impossible. As medications effect each individual differently, it is my experience that the severity of withdrawl also varries from one person to another. It would certainly be fair to assume that any individual taking the amount of medication you described for that length of time would certainly experience an unpleasant withdrawl but how bad would only be a guess. I know people that have stopped cold turkey and had only minor withdrawl symptoms and then again, I know people that had severe withdrawl for almost a month. There is also what is called PAWS (Post Accute Withdrawl Syndrom) which is symptoms that can last for months and even longer. The worst of the physical withdrawl normally doesn't last over 2 weeks though but those two weeks could seem like a month of hell. I would recommend trying to find a suboxone doctor (suboxone com). Suboxone is a medication taken to help with the withdrawl symptoms but can only be prescribed by certain physicians. If this is not an option maybe you could try to taper yourself down. Either way, my heart goes out to anyone that would have to go thru that, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy... Hope it goes well...
