Effects - What is the difference in the effect of instant release adderall and adderall XR?

My friend is planning on taking a 20mg Adderall XR pill to help him stay up all night on new years. Hes only taken a 20 mg adderall pill that was instant release twice before and felt the effects very well. The only thing is, the pill broke open in a bag, so now he is left with these tiny pink beads in a bag. I would like to give him some adivce on whether or not he should parachute it or not. From my understanding, for him to parachute the pill he would have to crush up the tiny pink beads until it is a fine powder, wrap the powder in some toilet paper, then swallow it( correct me if im wrong). So my question is, would parachuting the pill be the most effective way of use inorder to help him stay up all night or should he just swallow the tiny beads? What would be the difference of effects felt between the two methods of ingestion?

If your friend is looking for longevity, he should leave the beads intact and swallow them as they are, so that the time-release function remains. This will produce an immediate dose of 15mg mixed amph. salts, and some 6 hours later, another 15 mg dose. If he crushes them, he will get all 30mg at once, providing a 'stronger' high from the concentrated dose, with a shorter duration of action (likely 8 hours or so).

Swim has never needed more than the 8 hours that the IR provides and doesn't like the way the XR feels. It makes it a lot harder to sleep when you want to and SWIM likes the more intense shorter duration of the IR's. Swim would tell your friend to crush up the balls and parachute in a piece of TP or inside an empty gel cap.

swim has heard that with XR you should expect to feel half the dose of what instant would be, just for a longer period of time.
