Experiences - Bizzarre experience with Methadone- advice needed

Swim and SwimFriend had a bizzarre experience taking methadone yesterday. For both of us it was our first time ever taking an opiate (except from very rarely in life having panadeine when prescribed by a doctor when sick etc).

Swim and Swimfriend wents to guys unit upstairs, guy had a bottle of methadone which he gets once a week on takeaway. The strength is 5mg per ML. It is a yellow liquid. It tastes well like medicine.

Swim and Swimfriend initially had 3ml each.

Over the course of 3-4 hours Swim and Swimfriend felt mildly relaxed, things seemed less boring and Swim noticed an absence of anxiety. Swim felt slightly tired. But both Swim and Swimfriend felt very little. The sedation was very mild, barely noticable.

Swimfriend didn't want to try any more on this occasion, cause he had to go home but Swim decided to try another 3ml (15mg) at +4 hours. Thus Swim should have consumed 30mg.

Swim waited another few hours and felt no further noticable effect.

Thus after 8 hours Swim had apparently consumed 30mg.

Swim and Swimfriend have in their lives extensively used/abused LARGE doses of strong benzodiazepine, such as Xanax. Both Swim and Swimfriend are heavy, frequent drinkers of alcohol. Also both Swim and Swimfriend have used neuroleptic drugs at various times as a sleepaid. So Swim and Swimfriend have otherwise high tolerance to depressants in general but were opiate niave.

Is it possible for both Swims to have such natural tolerance to opiates that 15-30mg would not do anything? This seems bizarre. Or do you people think there must have been something wrong with the methadone.

Swim has great trouble seeing how the guy could have conned them with the methadone, the guy seem seriously concerned and came down and checked on Swim and Swimfriend on various occasions cause he was worried both Swims may have taken too much, and he didn't want Swims to be floored.

Swim has decided he will not trust or try methadone liquid again. Swim is going to hopefully get oxycodone over next week or so.

Any ideas?

SWIM has only had one experience with liquid methadone. It was the same concentration as SWIY had and he took what was supposed to be 30mg. SWIM was really feeling it after 30 min or so. This was also back when SWIM's tolerance was not so high. Even with that though when he was still in high school he would dose on 20 mg methadone in tab form and be completlely faded. I dunno that sounds really strange for SWIY to be opiate nieve and still not get what you want from 30+ mg of substance.

Swim has had someone else tell him that methadone in Australia is never yellow?

Everything Swim has read suggests even the first dose should have effected Swim strongly.

Swims conclusion is suggestive of the possibility that this was not methadone, or if it was it was diluted a lot more than was said. Swim is worried now and never again trusting some liquid, unless Swim knows the person EXTREMELY well. Swim shall stick to pills which can be identified (and Swim thinks it unlikely to get fake, authentic looking pills in this country)

It's hard to say for sure but based on the info that you have shared, along with my knowledge on the subject, I would conclude that it is highly likely that you were given a very dilluted dose of methadone. 30 mg should have given you a nice buzz. I know people that have been duped like this in the past. Also, always be wary when buying liquid medication or capsules. I've seen more than one person pay a $10 for an empty capsule...

Swim would like to clarify that his cousin reckons the colour was brown, not yellow. A dark brown. I've talked to other people now and they think the dose may have been too diluted as well... well next time Swim will try to get 20mg of oxy for first time experience, see how that goes. If 20mg oxy doesn't do anything then there is something wrong with swim!

lol yes Swim doesn't make the same mistake twice, though Swim is fine. Just disappointed
