Opinions - Drug testing

If SWIM is currently undergoing drug treatment (which he doesn't want, SWIM likes drugs) Will Tryptamines show up in conventional tests? SWIM gets the oral/saliva testing method for opiate abuse, and needs to declare what drugs have been taken. He doesn't think it'd show, but wants clarification before he declares anything to anybody.

AFAIK, it will not show unless very expensive testing is done and not just a normal saliva test

if it's a cheapo test (like a screen), there's no need to fret.

and as i say ALWAYS: if they try and tell you something IN THERE that is evidence of DRUG USE, YOU HAVE 1 OPTION.

IN OTHER WORDS, THIS JOB SEARCH IS FAR FROM OVER. if being randomly tested to be fired or sent to rehab, then the same strategy applies.

ABSOLUTELY DEMAND copies of all the paperwork and ask to see the expiration date on the initial (dipstick) test, do NOT leave the initial investegator's side until he/she has shipped out your specimen to their contracted confirmatory lab....

while being an asshole, check out the labs name off the envelope. any other info you can gather is also gold.

now, what you do is follow that piss collector all the way to the fedex pickup. anything she tries to do to make you leave, or if she hands the packet to someone else, WRITE IT DOWN---and say, "there is something in that package that is EXTREMELY valuable....probably not too valuable to you, or you...but for someone who's lived their whole life and never TOUCHED A DRUG, the contents of that box are worth almost more than your life to me right now. so, if you don't mind. i'm waiting for the fedex truck to get here and pick up this package.

the purpose here is simply to annoy, annoy, annoy...but it is to put yourself in someone's shoes who has NEVER smoked/drank/snorted cocaine, etc. THESE PEOPLE WILL DRIVE THEMSELVES CRAZY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF SOMEONE FRAMED THEM....They want to know who to call at the offsite 'testing facility'

I do not believe that current immunoassays will detect tryptamines. That said, gc/ms can detect them...if the screeners are looking for them. The tests aren't administered in a way that they just shake it all up and see what comes out. They actively search for metabolites of certain substances. If they aren't searching for them, they won't see them.

Most drug testing starts with an immunoassay for the initial screen and uses gc/ms for the confirmation if the initial screen shows a positive.
