Pain management question
Hey all, swim went to a new clinic recently for chronic pain due to many past surgeries & issues. Well they may of tested swim and though isn't worried about any other prescription medications, marijuana may show up on the screen. swim didn't mention it, and doesn't know what the policy for the clinic is, as they didn't want to be labeled or judged out in front of everyone. So the question is, should they call and ask what the policy is, mention that it may show up & that they really liked the doctor(this is definitely true) and will work to clear up whatever 'problems' may show up; call and just ask what the policy is, or don't mention and hope for the best next appt?? swim wants to be honest & has a legitimate reason for needed pain medication but doesn't want to be labeled..
For all of you who see doctors, have you had this issue arise? what are most policies on the green leaf, are they nearly as strict as if other harder street drugs or prescriptions show up on the test or do they treat them all the same?? if it shows up this once, is there a 3 strike policy, this has been the case elsewhere swim thinks, and they just want to make sure that this once showing positive will not result in an immediate expulsion from the program or you worked with your doctors. If y'all could help swim needs to know this ASAP. Thanks! |

Re: Pain mgmt Question ASAP
Swim would do nothing, the clinic may or may not test for this substance and even if they do=then swiyou can decide how honest to be with them. They will at least question swiy before showing him the exit door.
Maybe swiy only tried this substance once~perhaps swiy got drunk at a party and may have had a few puffs on a funny looking cigar?swiy will get a feel of their policy IF and when questioned! Just wait and see. Good luck.....q |

Re: Pain management question
I'm assuming this was urine test? How long ago was the last use? Urine can go back 3 months easily for cannabinoids. I agree to wait and see, then if/when they confront you play it by hear. Let us know how it works out.

Re: Pain management question
SWIM also agrees with not mentioning anything. If SWIY has a GOOD relationship with his/her Dr. then after a few visits SWIY can ask if the Dr. has heard or what their feelings are about MMJ.SWIM once went into his Dr's office and in the middle of talking about PN. meds SWIM asked the Dr;"Off the record, have you ever heard of a pt. saying they got relief from smoking MJ?"SWIM lives in a state that MMJ is not legal, neither is Marinol.SWIM's Dr's response was"MMJ is ABSOLUTELY helpful,if I could prescribe it I would but due to the laws I can't.I'm not saying that you should go and smoke MJ brought off the street because 1)it's illegal, and 2)you don't know whats in it and you'd be using it for medicinal purposes, but if dispensaries were avaliable, and the laws not such a pain in the ass here I would DEFINATELY recommend, and have no problem prescribing MMJ"SWIM was very shocked at the Dr's response and VERY relieved to have such a open minded Dr.
