Dexedrine 10mg Slow release
Hello all,
I doing a little research for my wife who is American. She has A.D.D. and when she lived in the US she was on Dexedrine 10mg slow release. She is now on a non-slow release drug and hence is tired by the early evening. She has tried obtaining the slow release drug through the NHS, but our local GP and dietician don't seem to know much about ADD. Does anyone out there know if it is available or of the next best thing or Why the NHS don't supply it? Thanks Chay |

Re: Dexedrine 10mg Slow release
Hi and welcome to the forum
![]() First of all there's this policy about using words such as "I", even if swiyour question is about legit use. Takes some time getting used to this swim and swiy thing, but it's worth it in the long run. Swim's not british so can't give a 100% certain answer, but wheres he's at(mainland Europe) theres no time release Dexedrine. Only the instant release. If he was to take a shot at why, he'd have to say it's because of the statistically small percentage of the population with this diagnose. Also the diagnosed population are mostly on other medication since, in swims opinion, Dexedrine is seen as a last resort by doc's because of it's habit forming potential. When putting the relative expence of producing time release pills or capsules into the equation he reched the conclution that it just won't pay off to make those time release Dexedrine pills unless one has a bigger market such as the US. Swim do not have any experience himself with Dex or as it is also called, amphetamine sulphate, but he read it works about 4-6 hours as IR pills. He has some experience with Methamphetamine and he thinks its effects(and sideeffects ) last all day.Well even in swim's nanny state people with ADD could be prescribed this as Desoxyn so maybe that would be a solution? Swims meth does not come in the form of pills, but thinks it can't be much different. Or maybe she could spread out her doses thru the day...? Others here can answer that better he hopes. Hope it's possible to extrect something usefull from swim's post He says it pretty awsome that swiy supports his wife in this matter. So even if not an expert(yet) he wanted to throw in his two Cents.

Re: Dexedrine 10mg Slow release
Welcome to Drugs-Forum chay.
Yesterday SWIM discontinued his 20mg daily Adderall(Amphetamine salts) prescription and obtained a prescription for 5mg x 3 times daily of IR Dexedrine(Dextroamphetamine). SWIM prefers the effects and ease of dosage that Dexedrine offers. He seems to get less over-stimulation and more concentration. Adderall didn't work well for his class schedule because he would start very early, have a break, then end very late when the Adderall lost its effect. SWIM recommends having her try multiple instance release dosages if that would work for her. It offers greater flexibility compared the longer duration stimulants. Hope this helps |
