Dose - Am I addicted?

Evening, this will be SWIM first post on here so bear with me if i waffle.
Just had 40mg of Equasym (generic methylephenidate) and throughout the day swim has probably taken 6 20mg tablets throughout. more than swim usually takes.

swim usually takes about 100 mg a day, prescribed to take 3 x 20mg daily but obviously never works out that way.

obviously swim is worrying about how much is too much and what this is going to do to me if i go on like this.

Equally swim goes cold turkey for about a week a month with no real need to have more until swims due the next prescription.

does anyone else do this or is swim alone?

SWIM used to go through this alot when he got prescribed focalin(dexmethylphenidate). Since his guardian monitored the dose somewhat, he would sneak into the bottle, pour out the dexmethylphenidate, then put the capsules back together and simply put them back in the bottle. It was like they were never missing at all. SWIM would go through these binges, of maybe having 3 or 4 a day, then going cold turkey when the prescription runs out. The amphetamine addiction would only last about a day for him. What would happen is, he loved that initial buzz you got when you first bumped a pill or 2, then he would keep trying to get that buzz again by doing more maybe an hour later or so. However, SWIM would never get that incredible feeling of euphoria you receieve in the first 15 minutes. SWIM has now been off the focalin for a couple months, the side effects of insomnia and loss of appetite were too overwhelming. He could sense the addiction coming on every once in a while.

It sounds like swim can relate to swiy, lasciviouslizzy. swim binged on amphetamine over the summer then following, got a script for methylphenidate. swim finds that methylphenidate (even after having the amphet tolerance totally wiped from swim's system) has minimal effects.

swim also has "experimented" with the effects of both ADHD medications. the bottom line swim's trying to get at is swim finds that amphetamines have a big impact while methylphenidate does not.

SWIY is exhibiting addictive behavior because he cannot control his compulsion to take more methylphenidate than prescribed on a daily basis until it is all gone.

SWIM had the same problem with methylphenidate when he was prescribed it for ADHD. His pdoc only gave him a script for 5mg x 4 daily which had no effect on SWIM at all. SWIM's doctor would not increase the dose even though SWIM had never been accused of any drug abuse.

So SWIM took matters into his own hands and started crushing and snorting 5mg pills as one line. SWIM felt this method got him a high like a weak cocaine buzz.

SWIM got tired of snorting lines and just started eating about 20mg at a time which was better because it lasted longer.

SWIM was acting like a drug addict because he was compelled to keep abusing his medication until it was all gone.

SWIM would say that SWIY is not physically addicted because he runs out of his medication and does not get heavy withdrawal symptoms.
SWIY is psychologically addicted to getting high off his medication.
