Short answer: simultaneously speedier and trippier (more visually active). SWIM's never had pills that were actually sold as MDA, but once had 'ecstasy' that was sufficiently different from any other pills he's had to suggest that it contained something else instead of, or at least in addition to, MDMA. From other people's descriptions of the effects, and also from the fact that MDA can result from an incomplete MDMA synthesis, he's reasonably sure this is what it was. It's good stuff, but undeniably 'harder' than MDMA.
