Drug info - Cocaine Base - Useable?

SWIM was reading about someones great dream in the chemistry section and was wondering - in the dream it sounds like at one point of it you may take what is titled "cocaine base" - you can see the powdery substance in one of the vivid dream pics.

is this quite different/cleaner from what people talk of as being the highly toxic cocaine paste?

I see from some other comments it's a very different high to the very pure HCL but I was curious of it's toxicity levels at this stage.

cocaine base is insoluble in water and is therefore not suitable for drinking, snorting or injecting.

However, it is smokeable, but not the healthiest.

Smoking freebase cocaine has the additional effect of releasing methylecgonidine into the user's system due to the pyrolysis of the substance (a side effect which insufflating or injecting powder cocaine does not create). Some research suggests that smoking freebase cocaine can be even more cardiotoxic than other routes of administration because of methylecgonidine's effects on lung tissue and liver tissue.
