We all know that xtc effects serotonin levels but wouldn't it seem logical that it also effects dopamine levels in the brain as well, the same way that normal amphetamines do? Just a thought...

MDA affects dopamine levels, as the (+)-MDA isomer fits nicely into dopamine receptors, however the stereoisomer of MDMA does not... it has SOME effects on dopamine, however studies are showing that the (+)-MDMA isomer is does not have a huge effect on dopamine receptors (5-HT2 receptors I believe...).

I'll do some research and answer you better in a few hours...

MDMA causes a massive dopamine cascade, of course, like any amphetamine.

A good overview of the neuropharmacology of MDMA is here
