Pharmacology - Masking Taste

SWIM has some 30/500 co-codamol tablets he would like to attempt CWE on. They were wondering if there is anything they could add to the resulting liquid to mask the taste without affecting the codeine as they have heard the taste is quite unpleasant.

It's just a watery version of the bitter pill taste.
Swim doesn't care for it at all.
However, on that same note, swim finds that drinking the CWE codeine quickly and following it with even the most mildly sweet drink will completely eliminate the aforementioned bitterness.

Another thing swim has noticed is that he shouldn't breathe out at all until he's had his sweet chaser. The breathing out seems to be the main cause of the bitterness.

Here's a secret to downing nasty tasting drugs in liquid form:

Swish your mouth with mouthwash, pref. an alcoholic kind that is strong in flavour. Spit it out, and down the nasty drug as quickly as possible.

Saves Swim from puking his guts out from a weak gag reflex every time!

Thanks guys. SWIM decided to man up and just down the stuff and it wasn't as bad as they imagined. Unfortunately they underestimated the effect that the SSRIs they're taking (40mg Citalopram) would have. SWIM got all the characteristic opiate effects (feeling dozy, a little bit itchy etc.) except the warm fuzzy blissful feeling! Argh!

Oh well, SWIM has been to the doc and is going to gradually stop taking Citalopram next week. Good riddance!

Swim says the taste isn't that bad and usualy causes much excitement for the warmth to come...
