"Nodding"?

Hey guys, new swimmer here, just wondering...

Why is being under the influence of an opiate considered "nodding"? Where does the name come from? I loooooove my opiates, but have never found myself anywhere near physically nodding lol

Re: "Nodding"?

The term nodding comes from the effect that opiates have on your state of consciousness. When you're real doped up, you look like you're nodding in and out of sleep. Now, only if SWiYs taking a substantial dose (according to your weight, tolerance, etc.) will you achieve the sacred nod, but when you do . . . you will know. It's like a complete state of euphoria, therefore you no longer realize what you're doing physically (closing your eyes, drifting into the buzz), nor do you care.

I'm not sure where the term came from, but I know the first time that I ever heard of the concept was in a William S. Burroughs novel.

ThusSpokeZarathustra added 2 Minutes and 12 Seconds later...

edit: My bad. It also depends on the potency of the opiod. Therefore you may need a substantial dose of hydrocodone to get high, yet only a very minuscule amount of sayyyy Fentanyl.

Re: "Nodding"?

Swims eyes get the flutters is what she calls them. Swim has trouble focusing and eyes just flutter, becomes problematic if happens in public.

Re: "Nodding"?

SWIM will describe a possiable "nodding" episode SWIM take their opies, slowly they start to creep up(if not IV'd).SWIM'S eyes start to get extra heavy and then with one blink they close for what feels like a nice nap, body TOTALLY relaxed. If sitting down, your head starts to lean foward and bob up and down/side to side(hence the term:"sucking your own dick").At times drool may drop out but thats when it's a heavy one.Technically your head dosn't even have to bob, your eyes can just close and your stuck in that ooooooooooh soooooooooooo goooooood feeling and opening your eyes in itself is a effort.I'm sure SWIMS been there but just hasn't realized it.
