Other - Cotton wool as a filter?

Hello, SWIM has been browsing this site for a few months and obtained the instructions for CWE through here. First of all thankyou for all the advice so far that SWIM has read.

SWIM was wondering about using a bit of cotton wool in a funnel to filter the codeine instead of coffee paper. SWIM had read elsewhere that someone uses this method effectively but cannot find any more information on it.

COULD anyone else help gather info?

A side question but what does each CWE yield (first filter, SWIM does attempt to extract more from the gloop). SWIM is sure she read the yeild somewhere but can't find it again. It is just a curiosity.

SWIM suggests sticking with coffee filters or proper lab filters if obtainable, as theyre possibly less messy and efficient than others. However obviously cotton wool does have a filtering effect as SWIM used to use it when fitering heroin, works okay although can break up quite easily and tear into shreads, so SWIM reccomend ensuring cotton wool is compact and steardy before use..

Coffee filters work excellent, but cotton cloth like t shirts can be used in a pinch. Make sure to prewet the chosen filter.

If swiy is unable to obtain the correct filter medium then cotton wool could be used,however swim would guess it would be prone to clogging.
Swiy can help to prevent this by 1) only c.w.e a small amount of pills...2)swiy could decant the solution to get rid of most of the solids before filtering...
swim would agree with the other suggestions and any thin cotton may be used,make sure swiy washes out any soap powder or fabric conditioner residue that may remain...

Thankyou so far. SWIM does use a cloth when doing a CWE but SWIM also uses coffee filters after which still clog easily. Then again SWIM thinks the cloth (a thick cotton tea towel but not "fluffy") takes most of the APAP (erm SWIM doesn't know if this is strange because SWIM gets mildly stoned on APAP) she doesn't get that stoned feeling much after drinking the "purified" stuff. SWIM could try decanting.

SWIM only wondered if the cotton wool would purify the codeine solution better than coffee filters.

Lol and thanks, yeah SWIM learned her lesson when she forgot to prewet her filters once.
