Since the study was first published that low dose ketamine acts as a highly effective rapid acting antidepressant, several of the big pharmaceutical companies have already submitted patents for novel ketamine like derivatives which exhibit the antidepressant effects of ketamine without the psychotomimetic effects. Since the first studies are now a couple years old, SWIM wonders, has anyone routinely utilized low dose ketamine as an antidepressant for an extended duration? If so, are the antidepressant effects consistent and long lasting, and does the low dose avoid the heavy tolerance issues that develop with recreational ketamine use? andrei

swims friends dose daily, but they usualy get high too! one swears it helps his depression, swim does not think the rest of them are depressed, just get high lol

I don't think this is a good idea.

K isn't really a euphoric drug. It's an experience, and after the experience you feel a bit dirty, a bit used. And i don't think this would help someone who is depressed.

The studies that show it's antidepressant effects involved very low doses ~30mg administered IV over 30 minutes. At this dose level very little if any classic ketamine intoxication effects are experienced.

The double blind studies showed a rapid and pronounced statistical improvement in major depression. The effects from a single administration lasted for at least one week.

I wish Dr. Jansen would revise his text. Quite a lot of new findings have emerged in ketamine research since Dreams and Realities was published. I agree with many others that this substance will continue to expose new dimensions for many years.

Recently it was published that S-ket actually increased dendrite formation. The activity of the isomers contrast widely.
