Morphine has been found to maintain it's potency after even decades of storage. This was found by assaying morphine that was found in medical-kits issued in World War II - in the late 1970's. The morphine sulfate, though discolored, was fine.

So, to your question, they should be fine if they were stored in a dry place and out of direct sunlight. Even then the degradation products should not be any more toxic than the morphine itself. DO NOT INJECT.

and the SR effect will still work? it wont be like taking 15mg of morphine at once? thats a lot for me so its a little scary to think it could all kick in at once

swim has had expired pills, although not 9 years, but one or two years, and they were perfectly fine. But this was oxycodone, although similar, it is chemically different. Take a low dose at first, then judge by then. Worst case sinario is you get sick.

Pill expiration dates usually aren't based on anything either, usually it's just 1 year after purchased. Without a ton of heat or light no degradation should occur for quite some time.
