(DHC) Dihydrocodein tabs and Alcohol
Does SWIY know if it's okay to take Dihydrocodein tabs a couple hours after having 2 pints of beer? Is there a risk of liver damage at all? And will the alcohol increase the effect of DHC?
Cheers |

Re: (DHC) Dihydrocodein tabs and Alcohol
It is probably fine, though they may make SWIM somewhat more groggy and uncoordinated by mutually potentiating each other. So SWIM should avoid tasks that require being alert - like operating a motor-vehicle. The risk of liver-damage from a single dosage of acetaminophen is slight to remote. Just don't let SWIM make a habit of it.

SWIM is new to DHC and only takes 60-90mg at the moment. He doesn't mix any meds with alcohol on purpose, it just happens sometimes.
Thanks! |

Re: (DHC) Dihydrocodein tabs and Alcohol
Yeah, I would imagine you'd be fine with moderate-low doses of alcohol and DHC, but nothing is 100% safe. Personally I've combined them many times and keeping it to a couple of drinks is best otherwise the DHC kinda gets lost, I've even thrown valium into the mix before with no ill effects.
People always warn about not mixing cns depressants, and rightly too but even fairly high doses of DHC don't have that much of a depressant effect, just don't overdo it. |
