Aquantience takes her own life
So swim attends after care meetings voluntary at his IOP that he goes to.. swim met a girl a couple of times and had some really good conversations with her swim was looking forward to there next conversation and even hoped maybe she become a friend. swim and her clicked from the begging.
well this weekend she killed herself. Swim saw her on Thursday and casually talked to her she did not seem sad or say anything at all about what she planned on doing. By sunday she was dead. She purposely od. This has changed swims perspective on the whole way he is going to deal with new comers or anybody in the program. No longer is swim going to sit back and let them come to him.. He has previously done this because of his own issues with abandonment and has some distance thing. His thinking use to be if he does not talk to them it wont be him who gets hurt. Now swims thinking is go to them if they do not like swim who the hell cares. Get there number call them a couple of times a week.. ask them to hang out.. this was a slap in the face that woke swim up People seriously are dying because of this disease. Its time to stop being selfish and help out. Please pray for her and her family and friends.. |

I'm sorry to hear about this. SWIM has gone through some dark periods himself and an unexpected call from a friend always brightened his day and made things seem a little less bleak.

Re: swims aquantience takes her own life.
SWIM works with people with depression. It is often the case it is the people that are quiet and do not want to trouble others with their problems who will go through with the act. People always wish they could have done something more but if that person is not willing to share what is going on in their head there is nothing that will change that.

Re: swims aquantience takes her own life.
Sorry for your loss Spare Chaynge. This thread has deepened a recent realisation for my gurl who has also lost a friend recently to suicide. My gurl is in therapy for social anxiety and she was talking to her therapist last week about how she often avoids parties and social gatherings now because of her own insecurities of how others see her and not fitting in. Her therapist replied that if my gurl has been invited to an event then obviously somebody wants her there and that her company is enjoyed and appreciated by others.
So yesterday my gurl went to a friends birthday party and saw a lot of people who she hadn't seen in a long time. She found out while there that the x-girlfriend (of 11 years) of the friend who's birthday it was had recently passed away, and he made it very clear how much it meant that the people he cared enough to invite, also cared enough about him to come. And at the same party my gurl was able to spend time with another good friend who's twin sister (also a very close friend) recently killed herself, and she realised how much her friendship actually means to these people. My gurl's anti-social behavior recently has stemmed from her insecurites about people not caring or liking her, and these thoughts have overshadowed her ability to be there for people she cares about and people that she could actually be there for in their times of crisis. Very selfish indeed. |
