Opinions - Benzos and lsd.

Just wondering what swims thought about having some benzos around in case the lsd is a little to much on the mind.

swim likes having them around but to para phrase another swim on this forum they quickly become a great idea once tripping and it ruins the trip. Or keeps you from gaining the insight lsd might provide..

SWIM used to take 10mg clonazepam (clonopin) before his LSD experiences because he suffered from anxiety. They help tremendously in allowing one to enjoy the experience with minimal turbulence, but in retrospect they also probably calmed the visual activity down as well due to the relation between thoughts and visuals--the latter seems to spawn from the former in his experience.

These days he is much less anxious and usually just keeps them handy in case he gets so far out that he starts becoming too manic, which hasn't happened yet. Yes, it's sort of like cheating, but some people's brains are wired as such that they require these substances to enjoy the experience with minimal hang-ups.

SWIM'd say tell him try it without, and then if it seems too manic or speedy pop one. It definitely won't hurt or take-away from the experience enough to be notable, especially if one is already an anxious person to begin with or has a script that he takes regularly.

SWIM advises all of his friends to have benzos around if possible when they trip, just as it was advised to have thorazine in the '60s (today most people suggest benzos over thorazine for bad experiences).
